ATI Radeon 9700 Pro & MJ 8
« on: September 07, 2002, 03:06:50 pm »

I have a odd problem.  Whenever I an info. ballon or any button on the main menu of the player my CPU raises to 100% and stays there.  When the ballon or window is cleared it drops back to what it should be.

Here is my info.

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.356
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2265 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 230 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer

P.S.

Not quite sure if I had this problem w/ my Geforce 4 4600; I just picked up the 9700 Pro yesterday. I'm using the lastest 6159 Catalyst drivers.  I also just downloaded the latest public build 365 and will give that a go.  I know the Catalyst drivers were having 2D acceleration problems in earlier builds.

Okay I have it figured out.

First off I just installed build 365.

When I first opened the program I tried click on one my audio files and the ballon come up with little or no CPU usage.  I then tried some of the same buttons with the same result.  Next I tried playing a file and sure enough the mysterious usage came back.  I had changed in Visualization Studio how my eye candy is rendered to DirectX. I set it back to the default.

Good find.  That could also indicate a video driver problem.

Thanks..I agree with you.

Earlier builds of Catalyst also had problems with making Mozilla crash/freeze.
