Media Center 12.0.125
« on: December 05, 2006, 05:19:22 pm »

This is the latest version of MC 12.0.  Any MC12.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.

If you're new to MC, please use MC11.1 from our download page here:
http://www.jrmediacenter.com/download.html

This latest build (usually safe) of MC12.0 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/MC12/MediaCenter120125.exe

12.0.125 (12/05/06)

1. Fixed: When a combobox was disabled, the inside of the box could draw a non-skin color.
2. Fixed: When an edit control switched from disabled to enabled, its border wouldn't always redraw properly.
3. Changed: Many dialogs were using an older dialog font that didn't support ClearType.
4. Fixed: Options tree image drop shadows were running together from one image to the next.
5. NEW: More areas of the program use the font chosen in Options > Tree & View.
6. NEW: Edit control borders are skinnable.
7. Fixed: The DSM-320 would not play videos.
8. Fixed: Restored writing out IPTC and fixed cases where PS2 would generate an error when trying to read new IPTC header from JPG files.

12.0.124 (12/04/06)

1. Changed: Wording for CD burn capacity did not fit nicely in standard window size.
2. Fixed: HTML Gallery threading fixed.
3. NEW: Remember password checkbox for the HTML Gallery.
4. Fixed: HTML Gallery output path was not getting updated if user used the browse button.
5. NEW: Reworked the "Encoding" options page.
6. Fixed: "Fill Properties From Filename" wasn't supporting translated field names.
7. Fixed: Parts of the options dialog would always use MS Sans font istead of the font chosen in Options.
8. Fixed: Menus were not using the font selected in options.
9. Fixed: Dragging and dropping tracks onto the audio CD burn action window was unduly slow.
10. Fixed: OSD of "Playing Channel n" would display nonsense text when playing a TV channel (using keypad) that is not among the list of previously scanned channels.
11. Changed: Streamlined how TV channels are handled in database.
12. Changed: TV engine is no longer unloaded and reloaded when playing a channel using keypad.
13. NEW: Reworked View Scheme component dialog. (combined expression and other types, automatically show when picking "Add Pane To Left", etc.)

12.0.123 (12/01/06)

1. Fixed: Returning from fullscreen display could shift the focus to a different view in a split view configuration.
2. Fixed: Web radio stations that didn't provide a proper MIME type wouldn't play.
3. Changed: Added zone information and playerstate changes to automation event notifications.
4. Fixed: UPnP (and other SDK users) would not work on view schemes with items that had a backslash in their name.
5. NEW: Revised the look-n-feel of the options tree used throughout options.
6. Fixed: Some html gallery creation bugs.
7. New: FTP uploader added to html gallery creator.

12.0.122 (11/30/06)

1. NEW: Video conversion is supported for handheld transfers. (currently only supports conversion to WMV) (experimental -- may not remain)
2. Fixed: Switching TV channels sometimes would unload and reload TV engine.
3. Fixed: Auto-import wasn't reconciling the disk and database at program startup. (introduced in 121)
4. Changed: Revised Theater View rubber-banding of list items to snap items to their final location so there won't be a final shift of one pixel a few seconds later.
5. Fixed: Scrollbar in Tag > Format page wouldn't always work.
6. Changed: Darkened disabled menu color text of Noire skin.
7. NEW: Combobox look-n-feel is completely determined by the skin instead of using Windows borders. (please report any droplist / combobox strageness)
8. Changed: Added more combobox skin items for background, arrow sizing, etc. (see Noire for an example)
9. NEW: Tab controls support over text color and selected text color for skinning. (see Noire for an example)
10. NEW: An HTML Gallery Generator has been added to "send to."  (Sad little template exists under "DATA\HTML Gallery."  More work to be done on the template.)  Upload to be added.

12.0.121 (11/29/06)

1. NEW: Recent right-click commands and send to commands are remembered between sessions.
2. NEW: Theater View sizing and layout better accounts for varying aspect ratios. (widescreen, etc.)
3. Changed: In video and DVD player unconnected filters are removed from filter graph to avoid complications.
4. Fixed: Canceling a transcoding data burn was not working correctly.
5. Fixed: Disc capacity for transcoded data burns was still not calculated correctly in some cases.
6. Changed: Recent Playing Now playlists show in the tree immediately instead of after a view refresh.
7. Optimized: Improved tree building / refresh speed.
8. Changed: Navigation tree did not support Page Up / Page Down keys.
9. Fixed: Scrolling in the tree while renaming an item didn't cancel the edit.
10. Fixed: In certain cases, image playback could start with the last image instead of the first image in a list.
11. Changed: List skinning supports "HotSelectedText" color.
12. Changed: Scrollbar skinning supports 4 states for the scrollbar background.
13. Fixed: Clicking on the player area while in display view would steal the focus from the display, making keyboard shortcuts stop working.
14. NEW: URL filetypes are determined by the mime-type provided by the server. (NOTE: the usage of ~~~stream~~~.mp3, etc. is now obsolete -- only enter the URL in the Open URL dialog)
15. Fixed: In rare cases, switching skins while playing music could cause a crash.
16. Fixed: Previously scheduled events wouldn't run until the "Scheduler" was visited once in the tree.
17. Changed: Album analyzer works better when dealing with multi-disc sets. (where the disc number is set)
18. Changed: Added "track change" notification to the automation event mechanism.
19. Changed: Updated height, width, and dimensions to also be available for video files.

12.0.120 (11/27/06)

1. NEW: JRSS surround sound processing is optional when converting 2 channel audio to 4 or 5.1 channel audio.
2. NEW: Subwoofer cutoff frequency is customizable when converting 2 channel audio to 5.1 sound.
3. NEW: Equalizer works with 4 channel, 5.1 channel, etc. audio sources.
4. NEW: Equalizer equalizes each channel in a separate thread (improves performance on HT and multi-core machines)
5. NEW: DSP "Effects" works with 4, 5.1, etc. channel sources. (unlike equalizer, effects only apply to main left and right channels)
6. Fixed: If "update from cd database" was selected for a CD and no matches were found or user canceled, existing tag values were still getting wiped out.
7. Fixed: Playing a flv video directly from YouTube or Google Video would not work unless the user has previously played a local flv file.
8. Fixed: The selected 3D visualization could revert to "Picture Terrain" in some cases.
9. Fixed: Temporarily disabled writing out IPTC headers to prevent problems when loading jpeg files in PhotoShop.

Some menus (File, Edit, etc.) are showing up too narrow for me.

It's only sometimes though.

Anyone else seeing this?

I Noticed Starting With 124, now with 125, that right clicking on the listing header (details mode) that MC does not always list a context message (maybe to add fields to the listing) does not show up.

And I Also Noticed When The Tool Tips For A Song In the List Pops Up This Is When You Can Right Click On The Context Menu To Edit The List Fields.

Yeah, I'm noticing the "thin menu" but only on when right clicking when a DVD is playing.

I went back to 124, same thing.  Tried 123 and it was normal.  Looks like it was introduced in 124.

I just tried this and saw the issue as well, but when I tried again it wouldn't repeat it.

I can't see ANY pattern to why it sometimes does it and sometimes does not.  All I can say is that after it just did it for me, I simply couldn't get it to do it again.

The preset buttons in the customize current view dialog are broken. If you click them nothing happens.  It worked in mc build 12.0.123.

Hokay, if I load a playlist, or smartlist, of photos, using thumbnail view, the right click menu is always cropped if more than one file is selected.

The Theater View issues with certain graphics cards remain when the full screen display is set to 1024x768:

1) The "twitching" of the text with a Geforce FX5200.

2) "Blocky" text with a Geforce 6800.  Note that with this issue, I've noticed a very interesting pattern, which is that the further the text goes to the right with any item in the list, the worse the blockiness gets.  In other words, with my main "Audio" list contains the group "Recent Imports - Last 200 Tracks."  The blockiness starts to look really bad with the word "Last," and seems to get worse on the text further to the right.

Thanks for ANY help with this,

Larry

The orientation of some images is different in MC12 compared to the view in Windows Explorer or in viewers like IrfanView.

While the image is correct when displayed in  Windows Explorer, the images display left or right rotated in MC12, both as thumbnails and in PN.

Hmmm... I'm really not seeing it.  Can anyone post a screenshot so I can make sure to look for the right thing?

Interesting!

I couldn't see this issue at all last night on either of my machines at home.  Both of these, incidentally:

  • AMD K8 CPUs - one is an Athlon 64 3200 and the other is an Opteron 165)
  • ATI Graphics - one an AIW X800 XT, the other an X1900 XT
  • Neither use (obviously) Intel chipsets - one is nVidia nForce3 (s939) and the other is ATI rd580 (with ULI SB)

Today at work, I see the issue immediately on this machine.  It is:

  • Intel Pentium D 940 CPU (Intel i975X - ICH7 chipset)
  • nVidia graphics - 7800GTX

Otherwise, they all carry similar software loads.  There are a few minor differences (required work stuff) but all in all they are very similar.

EDIT: Just tried on another machine I have here with an Intel P4 CPU (Dell-brand Intel Chipset) and ATI Graphics and it does not exhibit the issue.

I'm also suspicious that this issue described here (along with the preset issue mentioned above) might be related.

Reproduce bug:
1. Go to Playing Now.
2. Go to Audio main button.
3. No matter whether you are in Genres, Artists, or Albums, right-clicking on an album does not bring up the context menu.
4. Switch to another view, i.e. Genres, Artists, or Albums and the right-click works there. Go back to the previous view and it works now.

How do you generally start playing TV? From the Channels list on TV view, or using keypad, or from a custom TV channels playlist?

How big is the ipod? It should never take that long. My 4gb ipod is synchs quickly. Check the handheld settings. You might have it set to convert all files.

You could also right click on it in the tree and "initialize" it to start afresh.

3. No matter whether you are in Genres, Artists, or Albums, right-clicking on an album does not bring up the context menu.

For me, this happens always if the file(s) is/are selected before trying to access the right-click context menu. The tree location doesn't matter.

If I right-click a file directly without selecting it first the context menu is available normally.

Currently when ripping a CD it does not refresh the view as tracks are ripped (whilst looking at the album within the Audio view scheme).  Even manually clicking refresh does not work, the only way appears to be to move out of the view scheme and back in.

On a related note, is it possible to stop it from jumping to recently ripped after finishing ripping?  I've usually found it myself within Audio by then, and am playing!  The same goes for Recently Imported.  I never use the playlists at all, so to have them jumped to when I'm doing something else is somewhat irritating.

With regards to the thin menus, and not being able to edit library fields in the current build, I get both issues (every time - whatever menu I select first appears 1-letter-thin), on an Intel based laptop with built-in graphics.

Currently when ripping a CD it does not refresh the view as tracks are ripped (whilst looking at the album within the Audio view scheme).

I noticed that neither the AW nor the main window (which shows all the tracks) showed the "rip" progress or percentage during a rip just now.  The "Encoding" progress and percentage still showed, but while a track was "ripping," I saw no progress bar movement, and no percentage.  A few tracks later, this information was once again showing.

For me, this happens always if the file(s) is/are selected before trying to access the right-click context menu. The tree location doesn't matter.

If I right-click a file directly without selecting it first the context menu is available normally.
Alex, not sure if you were agreeing or had additional information, but I was referring to the upper part of the library view.

I've just attached a surround system to my computer.
I've set MC to 5.1 Surround, but Cloning each channel, so we can have music
at both ends of our computer room.
I'm still trying to figure exactly what's causing it, but
I think it's everytime MC changes track, I get a Run Time Error,
terminating MC.

Edit: It's not changing track, it's changing Albums (And/Or Stopping).

MC does not show the right-click menu at all if the file is already selected (left-clicked) before right-clicking. This happens in any details view. It doesn't matter where - Playing Now, Audio, Video, playlists etc are all similar.

As I discussed here, something is quite borked with Context Menus in general with this build, but which only seems to affect certain systems.

It would possibly be helpful if those of us who see the "thin menus" issue discussed above could also check the issue discussed in that thread.  I suspect they're related...

DSP Studio doesn't have an icon on the Taskbar.

Getting more right-click issues here. Cannot select several items and then rightclick, if I only select one item then its ok. Same issue occurs in any view, list or thumbnails.
