MC 12, fire and forget?
« on: December 09, 2006, 09:09:00 pm »

Ok this is ridiculous

I want access to the board or a refund of my purchase of V12. I do not mean to complain, but I am having issues with the beta I purchased that were resolved in the beta released afterward. I read the post at work and by the time I got home my access was gone.

This has to be the worst decision ever made. I cannot think of a better way to anger customers.  I rarely complain like this on a forum, but I am so dumbfounded as to why I would be denied access to a product I paid for.

I bought 12, loved 12, told several friends about 12....but then told them to hold off buying it because of this forum thing.

I am requesting either access or a refund...your pick at this point.

Would like to add my word on MC board access.

I paid for and used MC 9, 10, 11 and 12.
I now have an obsolete version of 12 (111) and I am not able to download at least the latest build.

Take the money and run?
I do apologize for not being a vocal and very active member, but I support ($) JRiver since a few years and ask for a bit of respect.
If Jim or whoever decide that a Beta is to be removed, he must ensure that paid licence gives the right to access the latest available version and that an information is being passed to customers.

My, not yet angry, 2 cents.

Regards

There's plenty of room here for constructive (and polite) criticism.

kamimeguro: If you do indeed have a paid MC12 license, J River will fix you up after the weekend. Remember MC12 is still in beta, so errors can  occur. There have been a couple of others that had access issues during the upgrade/beta proccess and were promtly taken care as soon as J River became aware of their situations.

Well said...

I'm in the same boat here...bought 9, 10,11, and most recently paid for 12, and now have no access to the 12 forums for comment and/or downloads...

I can only hope that this is a mistake that we've been locked out...

One way or another, your problem will be fixed next week.

The latest build is here:

I can't say that I am also "very angry" but I am completely astounded by the decision to deny access to the MC 12 Board to those who have PAID for the MC 12 beta.  If you wanted to encourage people to use MC 11 you shouldn't have offered MC 12 for sale.  I know it is a Beta but I tried it out, read all the posts and deleted MC11 after buying 12.  Now I don't have access to MC 12 support or to the new versions which correct bugs in the beta I was sold.

I can not understand the decision to deny support to those who have PAID for the upgrade.  I hope you quickly reevaluate this decision.

I would just like to add my "unstinting" support of JimH and the j river crew.  They love what they do and they are really, really good at it.

To those customers who may be "angry", did you come here looking for Media cataloging and playback software?  If so, MC is without peer.  Their current product, MC 11.1 is great, and their developing product, MC 12, is even better.  I would encourage those looking for class-dominating software to hang tight with jriver.

I would just like to add that the problem has been resolved for me.  An email to Jim restored access to the MC 12 Board and new builds, all this on a Sunday too.  I am very happy with MC and the extraordinary support I get from JRiver.

Glad to hear it.  For those new customers (or infrequent posters) who may feel disrespected by this policy, I would only point out that the Forum has recently been targeted by chat-spammers.  Just last night a new member posted a link to porn and sexual aids.  Worse yet, the link was removed before I could click on it.

Hi All @ J-river,

Not the least disrespect to your work and person, just feel the MC community a bit cold and difficult to step in...
(personnaly don't like the kind of answer from Jim: "If anyone would like their money back, please e-mail me.")
I love the product and stick with it, I just have not much time to share what are my joy an pain!
I love also updating MC every other day, even if it does not concern my usage of it.
This is why I found it disturbing to be let down the road...

I don't want my money back, just want to think I am still a silent member of the community.
If being silent is not apreciated here just let me know, i will think about it.

All my best to the team and the highly knowledgeable members of the forum while I am downloading the latest build (129), Thanks Jim.

Hmmm...  how to answer this.  Yes, you're appreciated, even if you're silent.  We know that a lot of people read but don't write.

But, we appreciate it more when people do jump in and comment.  Several reasons...

1.  It's nice to hear from diverse point of views.  We know what glynor and marko think.  We don't know what you think unless you tell us.

2.  This community works (when it does) because people help each other.  You may think you don't know as much as some of the "regulars" but I'll be you'd surprise yourself if you answered a few questions.  I'm always impressed how much more the community knows about MC than I do.

3.  It is often entertaining to hear from people who are a world apart.

4.... and so on.

Thanks for your kind post.

We know what glynor and marko think.

I'd like to think I'm still surprising every so often.   ;D

Please make sure to take note that until they can sort it out next week, Jim did post a link to the latest build in this thread.

Thank you Jim to take time and reply nicely to my post.
Let's say we all are addicted to MC and like all (old) couples we argue without obvious reasons!
Let's all keep the ball rolling and help make MC the killer application it has to be!
 ;)
