Other language versions planned?
« on: January 19, 2007, 08:15:17 am »

Are there any plans for MC to be released in other languages? I know a couple of people whose English isn't up to much but would love to have MC...

Which language?  There are a few listed under Tools/Languages.  It's possible to translate by editing the language.txt file in MC12's install directory.  It will get overwritten when you install a new build unless you put it in another location.

Thanks Jim
Didn't notice that somehow. The language in this case was German, so no probs.

Indeed there are a few translations available, but they are made by users (like me) and not professionals, and because of that they inevitably are not correct or at least very poor in many cases  (like my English in this post). Anyway that goes for the Dutch translation. So poor that I don't use it.

Your English seemed pretty darn good to me there :-)

Hmmm. Told one of the friends who was interested in the German version that a translation of sorts was already integrated and he asked "so why don't they mention that on the website?"

Does seem strange from a marketing angle - or are the translations in general so bad that JR don't want to advertise their existence? Seems a little odd.

No but they are created by users.
It's not a company thing....

One question:

I find some translations from english to german a little bit funny or not right. Where can one send the modified version, if it's better, so that it gets included?
