A few newbie iPod questions
« on: January 20, 2007, 12:43:46 pm »

Hi all,

I have an old iPod and I'd like to get a bigger one. I've been putting off the upgrade because iTunes 7 is just so awful, and the new models require iTunes 7. I'm looking for software alternatives.

I see there is some sort of drag & drop in Media Center, but there are two things I commonly do and I'd like to hear if Media Center supports it:

1. Drag & drop to a playlist (which of course would also put it on the iPod).

2. Shuffle a playlist (in Media Center) and save the shuffled sort order on the iPod. The iPod's shuffle function plays some songs much more than others, so I avoid using it by having some playlists pre-shuffled.

Thanks in advance!

I think you can do both, but just download MC12 and try it.  It has a 30 day trial of the full program.

JRiver does a better job of managing music, itunes does a better job with tv shows and movies
