Album Playback
« on: February 14, 2007, 07:26:06 am »

I am going to request this function again!

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=35077

Basically i could see this working simply by having a 3rd "Audio Playback" option.

1. Default Mode (which for me would be set up with cross-fade)
2. Alternate Mode (i don't use this, but i'm sure others do)
3. Album Mode (the new one, which i would set to be gapless)

Then if MC detects it is playing 2 tracks from the same album with sequential track numbers it will switch to 3, otheriwse it will use Default or Alternate as appropriate.

Any chance?!

I don't suppose anything has come out of this request?  Maybe someday?

It'd be trivial for a plugin author to implement that, if MC allowed plugins to change Playback modes. Unfortunately, it doesn't, though.

It'd be really nice if more of MC's internals were exposed to plugins. Unfortunately, it's all too common for somebody to install a plugin that does something unexpected and then that person blames MC for that behavior. In the worst cases, those same people then post all sorts of negativity about JRiver and MC when the problem lay elsewhere all along. I sometimes wonder if that isn't part of the reason why the SDK doesn't get expanded more often than it does. That, and the umpteen bazillion feature requests that they receive on a daily basis. ;)

Maybe this could be integrated with Automatic shuffle, so if its an album it is gapless, and if it is a mix it crossfades it.

a related question, is there a way to rate an entire album as 5 stars even though some of the individual songs aren't rated 5?
