Roku SoundBridge and international characters
« on: February 28, 2007, 12:48:11 am »

My recent messing with Media Center, SoundBridges and UPnP server settings led me to explore something I'd been wondering about.

The SoundBridges do support international characters, though the "Filter International Characters" option seems to be enabled by default for them. If I set the receiver to "Advanced" and uncheck that box, the characters display properly on the SoundBridge.

Should that be unchecked by default for SoundBridges? From watching the behavior of the advanced options as I select different receivers, it looks like the only other option that should be checked for them is "Skip Child Count". Is that correct?

If "Filter International Characters" was off by default for SoundBridges, would the auto-detect receiver option handle them correctly?

Hi, I'll look into this, thanks for letting me know. That's nice that Roku supports international characters!

Very nice! I've changed the options so auto-detect does the right thing.

The Skip Child Count option was required for Roku to avoid timeouts with large folders.
