Unable to record?
« on: March 31, 2007, 05:49:13 am »

Gidday,  ?

I am unable to record in my limited user account for XP-Pro Media Edition.
My settings are:

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.400
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: AMD Athlon 1460 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 130 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.11
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2900.2982
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2900.2995
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2900.3051
wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer

I need to record line-in analog to .wav files. I can only do this in administrator account?

When recording in my limited account (for more internet security) only the folder and subfolder are visible, without the actual sound file? Play back of the media library does not work either.

Meanwhile, your opposition (Media Player 10) will play back library soundfiles no problem at all?

regards,
Obe.

Is there anyone out there who can help me with this issue? Some comments or observations are welcome.

You might want to try our newer software here:

www.jrmediacenter.com

With MJ8, you may need to run as admin.

Hi Jim,  :)

Thank you for the reply.
Which version new software do you recommend? Will it record while in a limited account?
cheers,
Oobe

At the top of the page, if you click on 'general', the MC12 forum will give you the latest and greatest. I like MJ8 a lot but it is a bit dated now.

OK,  ::)

I've discovered that my backup computer - Win2000 Pro will operate MJ8 within a "power user" account. Hence, to do what I want reasonably securely, I use the backup box while I'm recording and need the net too.
cheers,
Oobe.
