Slow Media Server
« on: April 07, 2007, 11:56:58 am »

I got a file server running XP and Media Server. My client pc is a computer running Vista home premium and Media Center 12.0.207.
My question is: Is it supposed to take over a minute for my client to connect with the Media Server?
Is this a Vista problem?

I also got a client running XP with Media Center 12.0.207, and it loads the library faster (about 15 sec).

How large is the library and how fast is the network connection?

I can't remember where the zip file is stored on the server at the moment, I'll check it out monday and add it to the wiki.

Are the Vista client and the XP client both running on the same network?

How large is the library and how fast is the network connection? 9000 mp3 files and 6000 jpg images. My internet connection are 6 Mbit/s up and down. My network are not wireless.

Are the Vista client and the XP client both running on the same network? Yes

Sounds like a Vista problem then. Perhaps this?
