The functionallity of the firefox MPC plugin only seems to work when MC12 is closed. The plugin will open MC12 and play the stream nicely.
If MC12 is open, the hourglass will stay for a few seconds and then nothing.
Can this be fixed please.

Do you know who wrote the plug-in?  It isn't ours.

I think what Dave's saying is the plugin is an add on to FireFox which
opens MPC streams using the default player.

On Daves system that player is MC.

Sorry, yes that is what I was saying. It is a firefox plugin. Basically it only works when MC12 is closed.
This plug in works with all other media players...open or closed. That is why I think it is a bug in MC

which .exe did you use when you configured the plugin?
I think you must use C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC12.exe

I am using the right exe. It works when MC is closed, but not when it is open

just tried the plugin with "C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC12.exe" set as player and MC open.
it works

I'm using:
-MC 12.0.207
-MediaPlayerConnectivity 0.8.3
-FireFox 2.0.0.3

what page were you using with the embedded stream.
I cannot get anything from mlb.com to work. Maybe it is the type of stream that is the problem?

if it's the type of stream I think you should have problems with MC both open and close

but are you sure you set "C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC12.exe" as the player to use?

BTW, I've only tested it with mp3 files, are you trying with something different?
maybe before blaming the plugin or how it interacts with MC, you shoudl double check if the stream is playable by MC; copying the URL and past it in MC may help you debug your problem

I am using the correct filepath to MC.

The file I am trying to use is playable in MC. The only problem I have is when MC is open, the plugin does not work.

I tried that site you suggested, but could not find any embedded links.  I also tried many other sites with embedded video with similar results

I have come to the conclusion that it is a MC problem.  This plug in works flawlessly with every other player open or closed but only works with MC when it is closed

Just go to mlb.com or nhl.com and try to watch any video. It is easy to reproduce using the mediaplayerconnectivity plugin.

just tried with mlb.com

with videos on that site it doesn't work both if MC is open and closed.

the link (http://mlb.mlb.com/flash/mediawall/y2007/mediawall_panel.swf) the plugin passes to MC doesn't seem to be playable by MC at all, so I don't think it's a "Problem", unless .swf is supposed to be an extension officially playable by MC (I have no idea)

can you tell me exactly which links on mlb.com are you able to play only when MC is closed?

Shockwave format (SWF) is listed as a playable media type under tools/options/file associations.  In testing this for dave, is this format enabled on your machine?

I am not playing flash files, They are wmv files that play in every way with MC except when using this plug in. Just to repeat Everything works fine if MC is closed....the plug in will open MC and play the WMV file. No problem.

I don't think that file association can have anything to do with it:
the plugin is calling MC directly via "C:\WINDOWS\system32\MC12.exe"
btw, my MC has all (and I mean ALL) associations switched off.

just tried with two videos from baseballchannel.tv.
They worked with MC open AND closed:

But then I found out that the stream passed to MC was not like the one you see listed above.

After a couple of tests and page refreshes with Firefox, the video started to play in MC and I noticed the different and correct URL you see above (the 2) one).
