I'm running MC12 with Vista. Everything works great escept for the playback of MP4 files. If I use Quicktime the playback is very choppy. If I use DirectShow as Directx  it plays OK but the quality is subpar. The best quality and performance is WIndows Media Player via MC12. When playing a playlist mixed with MP3 and MP4 files everything plays fine for a while. After some time playing back both file types I begin to receive an error when attempting the playback of MP4 files. An unrecognized version of Media Player is installed. Do you want to upgrade. If I close MC12 and re-open, I can continue to playback for a while once again. Even the same MP4 that caused the error will play fine now. This repeats every 20 to 30 minutes or so. What I am doing wrong? If ther is a better way to have MC12 playback on an external player during a playlist how would I configure that?

Make sure you're using the latest MC12, available at the top of this board.

Try DirectShow filters again.  There is a FAQ near the top of the board that has DirectShow and video playback links from Yaobing and glynor (start reading from the bottom of the FAQ.

I am running ver 219 already and the problem continued. I also installed the filters in the FAQ thread. I'm not having playback problems. The Directshow video plays fine and looks great via WMP. The problem is that MC12 begins to think that WMP is an older version and needs to be upgraded. A simple restart of MC12 resolves the problem for another 30 minutes or so. It seems to be that MC12 is checking the WMP version and since the Vista version is not recognized it assumes it to be out of date or old.

Try playing the same video in a loop and see if it still happens -- just to see if it is content related.
