Multiple Podcasts?
« on: May 01, 2007, 09:54:54 pm »

I am having an issue with one of my Podcasts that keeps downloading mutliple versions of the same Podcast.  it started with duplicates and is now up to 4 copies of the same Podcast.  It seems to be when I restart MC it redownloads some of the same podcasts at the next update interval.

anyone else have this issue or a fix?

Thanks but I only have a single instance of MC running.  it seems that there are others with this issue dating back to MC11:

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=33138.0

Managing this manually isn't really something that I want to do as MC is loaded on a PC that is in the basement and the only thing that is upstairs is the iPOD doc.  Plus I deleted a bunch of the dups last night and this morning they are all back! (yes, I really deleted them from the disk and all).

Its only happening on a couple of podcasts but ofcourse its the ones that I listen to the most and that are updated every day so I have to skip multiple duplicate tracks to get to the "real" next track.  Call me a whinner but its annoying.

I checked in iTunes and this does not happen so there must be a way to deal with it effectively.

I'll look into this over the next couple of days. Can you post the podcast feed here?

Did you delete them in MC?  Are you using the latest version?

Yes, I deleted them thru MC and they happily re-downloaded again, no matter how many times I delete them.

I think that John said he was going to look into this, any word John?

Ok, if I can, I'd also like to see an option added to remove podcasts once they have been played.

That would be awesome!

I'm also having the same problem with downloading multiple copies of the same podcast.

Also experiencing this problem or at least a very similar one.. Loads of duplicates happening in many of my subscriptions now.

Edit.. Removed some reporting of app behaviour that isn't correct anymore.

Recently upgraded to 12.0.240.  Lots and lots of duplicate downloads on unplayed podcasts.  I didn't have this problem until this upgrade.

I've now been using 12.0.240 for a couple of days and nearly every one of my podcasts is double or triple downloading.  In one case I have FIVE versions of an episode.  This essentially makes MC unusable for managing my podcasts, which is the main thing I use the product for.  This behavior is new (for me) as of 12.0.240.

1) Is there a timeline for when this will be addressed?
2) If I download a previous version can I just install it over the top of 12.0.240 and downgrade?

Are you using MC in a client/server mode?  Library Server on one PC and playing on another?

No and no.  I'm guessing that you're trying to see if I'm starting up in read-only mode.  The behavior sure looks like that's what's happening, but I'm running on a single computer with a local library.

Hi Y'all, I'm finally looking at this, sorry for the delay. I've got a case that looks pretty reproducible, so I should be able to get it fixed soon.

Excellent.  For what it's worth, I haven't seen the behavior in 12.0.251.

EDIT: I spoke too soon.  The problem is still there in 12.0.251

Anti-progress, unfortunately: I lost the test case I had. Then I got side tracked for a couple of days. But I'm working on that now, and will have something ready today or tomorrow.

Did you try build 259?  It's at the top of this board.

No worries.  Well, okay, some worries.   :)

Still, I'm glad to see that you're on it.  Thanks!

No pressure but this is really keeping me from enjoying my podcasts as now it has made them essentially unusable - sorry.
