Today When I Got Home I Was greeted With A BSOD.

I knew that one of my Maxtor One Touch III 1TB Turbo Drives Were Going Offline (power out on the front light panel).

I am not Sure why but it is not the power supply since i exchanged it with another at it is doing the same thing every two days or so.

the drives are not making any noise (that is not normal). so i am thinking it may be a circuit board problem.

Nothing that is important is on this drive except Internet pictures

So I decided to open it.

there are two screws on the back one covered with a paper warranty tag (remove this under penalty of death)

So i removed the paper, and the two screws

Note: I bought a ReliOn Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor Today, 145 Over 99 During The Cover Removal Phase

Remove The Back plate.

The Side Covers Will Pop Off If You grab The Top Of The Rubber And pull And Then The Bottom

Turn And Remove the Other Side.

now Comes The Interesting part.

The Case has A Aluminum U shaped And Plastic Tabs Glued to The Top And Bottom

So What You Need to Do Is Make Sure The Back Top And Bottom Is Positioned So you Can Slide the Out Side Forward 1\4 of A inch Then You Should Be Able To Pull The Top And Bottom Lose From The Case.

There Are Two Screws In The Front You Need To Remove And Then The Two Shells Holding The Drives Will Open If You Slide Them Forward 1\4 Of A inch. Exposing The Two Serial ATA Drives.

Serial ATA Drives Are Replacing The Standard EIDE Drives That Have Been used In The Past.

Interesting Set Up And If the Drives Worked I Would Say maxtor Did A Nice Job Putting Them into A Nice Protected Case, that Could Be Easier To Void The Warranty.

Maybe When I take It Apart Again I Will Take Some Pictures.

I don't have these raid issues because I use the rock-solid Windows XP hacked RAID 5 solution.  My 4.5 TB array has been running flawlessly for over four months, even through a few accidental hard reboots!

I put it back together and it still is working.

i may need to do some testing on the drives, or install a ATA serial PCI board and install them in the computer if it is the motherboard in the Drive array.

At this point not sure what the deal is with it.
