Podcasts and OPML
« on: July 05, 2007, 04:25:12 pm »

Y'all have been asking for OPML support for a long time now, so I'm going to try to supply it.

One question, however: how do you see this working? I'm thinking that there are two basic things you can do: import and export. You get an opml file from somewhere, and import it. It then subscribes to the podcasts listed there. Or you can select a bunch of podcasts and export them as an opml file for your friends.

I haven't used Juiced or iTunes or any of the other podcast readers, so I'm not sure if this is what is expected. I wonder if maybe opml files can be "subscribed" to in the same way as podcasts.

Let me know, thanks...

Yes.  You've got it.  Import the file and it adds to your podcast subscription list.  Export and it creates the OPML file.  Optionally, add the ability to filter which items to import.  In other words, choose "import OPML", then see a list of all items to be imported.  Choose which ones to keep from there.  Click okay and those items are added to your podcast subscriptions.
