My Thrill for the day
Today I Completed Part II OF Crucial Confrontations Course In Raleigh, NC
Roll Playing:
I Was a worker, and forgot to complete a report.
The Confederation:
When my supervisor sat me down to confront me (In front of the class) My task was to sidetrak the interview. I did not tell my class mates what i was going to do before hand.
I pretended to brake down and, sob-ed endlessly about a medical condition I just learned about.
At first they began to laugh, but then began to take the situation seriously, and deal with it.
What they did not know is I pulled from my real life emotions (and we all have them) into it, and the tears were real.
The human resource leader said that I presented a classic real world situation that managers have, and need to deal with on a daily bases. I Guess i sort of won the class acting award.
Sometimes as a leader we need to ask questions, and deal with the situation with all the facts, and not jump to conclusions (or tell our self a story) before we know all of the facts with a worker or Co-worker. There maybe something else going on than what we may see.
I learned from taking the course, and am glad I had the opportunity.
