j river = orb ? so wich device before TV
« on: December 23, 2007, 10:19:21 am »

i test many months orb when it was downloable. i go in deep to understand how it work.
transfert media to server ( internet)
encode it
 stream it to rendering device in a format/size adapted to the rendeering device ( screen of pda / phone if viewable...).

j river = server + local client
net remote = remote for j river client
i read  j river support audio and image streaming ( think radio on internet or local file/server)
is the device that support j river and media ( audio image video) store in local  or internet storage ?
orb seem very good but encoding is done on internet and not very for privacy . see nero is or ll support real time transcoding but don't know which codec can be use.
orb for eample use only for output format those support by window media player  and  only microsoft codec .

Pc :video -> wifi-> device : rca ( audio +video)-> TV
does psp3 decode audio/video wifi data to transfert them to rendering device ( spdif -> home cinema ->HP, s video-> hdmi tv)
upnp is for control or also for stream data ( audio video images...subtitle ) .

thank's for any information or feedback for those who use streaming media to tranfert data store in jriver for stream data  near  tv. ll need only a device  that can be use ti transfert data to s video rca connector but don't store media data.

I think what you are looking for is our UPnP server. You can hook a device such as the Philips Streamium or the DLink DSM520 to your TV, and connect to Media Center's UPnP Server. The content is stored on the Media Center computer and streamed to the device to display on your TV. The device is controlled with a remote control for that device.
