analyze replay gain problems
« on: August 09, 2002, 07:30:14 pm »

I am trying to analyze about 500 songs, it gets about 30 done and then every song comes back with an error and memory is rapidly used until Windows increases virtual memory which crashes MJ.  Anyone else having problems with replay gain?  You can see where it starts to have problems in graph memory goes up and CPU use goes down. Before the errors started memory was holding steady at 219MB used.

Hmmmm.  Several of us reported this problem but we thought it was fixed in one of the last few releases.  Maybe not.

Here's the thread...
Memory Leak in Replay Gain?

You might want to try the patch posted (about 2 thirds down the thread) and see what happens.

I am also still having problems with MJ crashing while analyzing MPC files.  The quantity of files doesn't really seem to make a difference.  It crashes if I try analyzing 20 files or 200.

Just over a week ago I used analyse replay gain (may have been still in version 336 - now I'm using 346 - but I'm not sure) to analyse my entire collection of 1200  mp3 files. I set it going, left my computer alone for 24 hrs or so and when I came back all but one were done without error. I must say, when I left, I saw MJ memory usage already up at 60MB while normally it's using 20MB, and increasing.
I'm using Windows XP Pro and I've got 256MB RAM.
