Hi,
The taskbar mini player (like iTunes, WMP ans others) is the only feature that MC doesn't seem to want to integrate.
I know someone made a MC Tollbar but it doesn't work as smooth as it could.
Are you even considering including this feature or not at all ?

If anyone thinks that this would be a good feature please add '+1'

there is a way to do this with icons and shortcuts (a custom 'Quick Launch' toolbar), however a 'nice' version would also be nice, so +1

I use the Paradigm Essence mini view (sort by Most Recent to find it) with it set to "Always on Top." I position this mini view at the top of my screen. It sits there nicely and doesn't interfere with any of my programs. It also shows the current song/album and elapsed time/total time of each track. You can click on a button and view the current playlist, too. The taskbar mini players usually just give you controls. I don't need controls since I have them on my keyboard. However, I do like to see what is playing. The default has the flyout screens appear at the top of the bar, but you can change them to appear at the bottom of the bar (by clicking the button with three dots on the right of the bar and clicking "Window") so that the mini view can be placed at the top of the screen .

I love the Paradigm mini skin, but would also like to see the Taskbar Mini in addition.

This is the only feature which makes one of my friends say "I'll stay with WMP just because of this". And I for myself would love to see this to. I also know the trick with that command line icons, but this isn't as nice as WMP taskbar view. Especially it has now seekbar.

Speaking of Paradigm, I'm still hoping for a mini-er version of it.

Personally I have too many programs running at once and don't have the room or need to put anything else in my taskbar. Sorry, but -1.

I would not use anything like this myself. My taskbar is always full, even when I am on my UXGA screen. I usually use hardware shortcuts and sometimes Paradigm Essence.
Either way, some might like the FoxyTunes extension to Firefox. I know it is not what is being requested, but it might be a better solution than mc12.exe shortcuts for some.

I agree with dcwebman... an even smaller version of Paradigm would be nice.

But I'd also like to +1 for the Taskbar type.

Another think I would love ( and not sure if this is possible with MC) , is something I saw in another program (can't remember which) , is just the Artist and Track name , Album name ( the text only) appearing in the top corner of the screen when ever a song changes.
This would be great while working, and not having to check manually, if you want to.

There is no control panel ... everything is done via config files.

If you have a look at the README file it states:

There is no UI in Media Center for controlling this plugin. It is totally configured via windows .INI files.

The main configuration file is called PlayingNow.INI and is in your windows directory, e.g. C:\Windows\PlayingNow.INI.
A link to this file has been places in your Windows Start Menu, e.g. Start\All Programs\James Dickson\Playing Now\

This file is read upon starting MediaCenter and controls the behaviour of the popup. Please consult the PlayingNow.html
file for a complete description of this file.

No problem but if you need help just post on interact. Loads of users have the plugin and you can usually tell as they have their "now playing" track as an image in their signature.

jriver rarely if ever will comment on feature requests. I am sure they like and listen to them, however it is probably their policy to not comment on them. Which is a good policy IMHO.

it would be nice if they just wrote - acknowledged or read - so we know that they have read it at least!

I'm pretty much a new user and newish to the forum myself.
But I've realized that there's a hell of alot going on in the forum , and especially behind the scenes.
Jim, Matt and the rest are probably way up to their neck in tasks and handling MC, and so although I understand that some would like some kind of acknowledgement from them when it comes to requests, suggestions and issues ... I think we all need to just understand the tasks they are dealt with, how demanding time wise it is, ... and just believe them when they say "we do do read all posts", and realize that if they were to commit to answering every post of every member, they probably wouldn't be able to do as great a job as they are doing with MC.

Let's face it ! How many software product versions do we know of, that are released as often as MC, having new features as often as MC?
MC has given us a platform to voice our wishful requests, and with a bit of lucky, they come true, maybe soon or in the long run.
In the short time that I've been here, even a request or 2 of mine has come to life.

agreed, they do a fantastic job.

It is one of the biggest complements I can give to say that it is one of the few bits of software that I have paid for (windows xp is OEM license on a second hand thinkpad and so doesn't count!).

All the other software I choose to use is opensource (7zip, flying model simulator, openoffice, filezilla, firefox, ultravnc, pdfcreator, pidgin etc) but I paid for MC10, 11 and 12 cause it is that good.

J River are truly doing a fantastic job. And it's very gratifying to see features/bugs you've pointed out/mentioned in the changelogs. They really do listen, and do what they can/think is for the best! Kudos to everyone over at J River for their great product (and also to all the immensly helpful "normal" folk who frequent this forum).

i don't think anyone said anything about JRiver achievments..
If we are all here it's for one good reason : MC and the Team behind Rock !!!

But if they do read topics (which I believe) and (if people give a proper title to a topic) why not drop a quick
line to say if they reckon it's an option or not (espacially on feature requests > as we are all customers and because the freeware market is also very active and innovative).

I've been a customer since MediaJuke 8 and never had to complain about JRiver (and I won't start now)
Keep up the good work guys and keep an eye on us ^^

We do read and often are interested in the suggestions, but don't want to give the impression that we'll do it. Sorry if that comes across as disinterested.
