Scheduler not recording audio stream
« on: January 21, 2008, 07:52:56 am »

Hello all,

I have an issue with the recording audio streams using the scheduler.  I set up a scheduler to record a buddy's radio show.  I set the schedule to record every Friday night from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.  The first time this was run, it did record the show.  It left it as a file called Metal with no extension.  I just added an mp3 extension, and it played fine.  I renamed the file to add the date and moved the file to a storage folder.  Everything seemed good.

The next week, the scheduler said completed, but the recording was no where to be found.  Same thing the next few weeks.  I then removed the scheduled task and created a one time event, still nothing recorded.

What am I doing wrong??  It did work once so, I know it works but for the life of me can get it to record again.

thanks for any and all help.

Make sure you have the newest build from the top of this board.

Also, you need to have Media Center or Media Server running for scheduled events to run.  Tick the box Options > General > Run Media Server on Windows startup to always run it.

Matt,

Thanks for the reply.  I have version .404 and will install the .410 version.

I do and did have Media Server running, I can see the icon down by my clock.  I also double checked the settings you advised.

I usually leave Media Center open when I attempt to record.  Do I need to do that when Media Server is running?

Thanks again.

Sounds like you're doing everything right.

We'll see if we can reproduce it on our end.

What's the URL you're recording?

I haven't been able to reproduce this using a Shoutcast .pls URL.  It records a file with an MP3 extension in the music folder I specify in Options.  It does not import it automatically, so you have to import it by hand.

If I put in a bogus URL, I get an error message.

A year ago or so, i asked nearly the same question because i recocnized that the scheduling is not working, when MC is open. I never solved this issue, because the streaming was too unstable at this time for recording and i lost the focus for that. Try to shut down MC before recording.

Sorry for the delayed response, the url is:

http://streaming.jcu.edu:8000/listen.pls

I guess my question is should I leave Media Center on, or off.  I do leave Media server on??

Thanks again

After copying the link from MC, I noticed they switched to a Windows Media format.  That link won't work.  It did work last week.

Thanks
