Well, I understand that this player is pretty much obsolete but I like it and intend to use it until it dies...
Anyway, I had numerous problems with syncing Karma in MC12 - it kinda worked but not quite... So I stopped using MC for that and used some complicated routine which I hated.
So, I returned to MC12 for Karma syncing after about 6 months and found that the main problem I had was not there anymore (MC12 would decrement track numbers by 1 so that during the next sync it would try to transfer same titles again since the track numbers wouldn't match..). Now it's all fine!
However, the transfer speed is extremely low - actually, it goes in waves. It starts out reasonably fast (around 1MB/sec), then after about 6-7 titles it gradually slows down to a crawl (0.1MB/sec) and the whole system almost freezes for 10-20 min, SOMETIMES it recovers and speeds up to 2.4MB/sec (!). Sometimes, it stops the transfer and says "Done".

No conversions going on - all titles cached in handheld cache.

I am doing a large transfer - 3000 titles (reformatted the player and now filling it in)....

Is this something I just have to live with? Is this my karma? Or other people with different devices have similar problem?

This is possible I guess... but what it would be checking? What should I disable in it?

BTW, this morning I started the sync again (yesterday I only got through about a half..) - now the transfer breaks every 1-10 min - MC just drops the connection with Karma and I have to disconnect/connect Karma to reestablish connection - yesterday it didn't do this that often...

Just checked what my AV was doing.. Yes, it was sniffing every file and temp-file involved into the syncing.. I guess, this very well can be the cause of my problem.
Removed mp3 from AV list of extensions to check.
So far so good.

OK. Disabling the AV (AMON of NOD32) took care of the slow-downs/freezes -- thanks much for the hint (I had no idea the NOD was so busy all the time).

Karma disconnects are still there - MC drops the connection after every 2-3-4 GB's - not a big deal as it only matters for large sync lists. A hundred or two titles go pretty fast and without drops.
