MC is unable to display some jpg black & photos that I scanned. All other display/edit tools on my system have no problem with these images.

Any tips on what I can do to diagnose the problem?

What program you used for saving the image files? Did you use any specific jpg settings?

You could create a zip package of a couple of images and upload it e.g. here:
www.rapidshare.com

(Possibly JRiver's pix01.com service converts images to rgb jpg so it may not be useful. At least my png images were converted to rgb jpg.)

Scanned and saved with the standard software that came with my Epson scanner. No further edits to the image. The only explanation I can think of is that I may have scanned with 16 bit black depth, however all other apps on my system are ok with these images.
