Generic MP3 player won't sync
« on: March 06, 2008, 01:37:27 pm »

Hello,
I bought this generic mp3/mp4 player - HS-3006 Hip Street 4GB MP3 Video Player.
It shows up as a drive when plugged in into usb so I can drop files directly into it.
For some strange (for me) reason MC fails to sync it
-- I have a playlist to sync
-- I tell MC to sync this list to the player
-- on the first run files do get transferred
-- MC shows files/titles in the player's library
-- disconnect/reconnect player
-- MC doesn't see any files on the player
-- on the second run same files get transferred
-- MC does create the catalogue file in the player's root but the file is empty.

Any idea on what can be wrong?
Thanks!

Maybe the player needs the files in a different location.

You could possibly solve it by adding an entry in the pdt.xml file that MC uses.  Edit with notepad.  I think it's in Program Files/JRiver/Media Center 12/Data or Resources.

Jim - thanks!
How do I identify what to put in that entry <Type>, <Vendor>, <Name>...

Like I said, that player is basically just a flash drive - it doesn't care where the files are. I just navigate there through folders to mp3 I want to play.

MC creates folders, puts files there and I can play them alright. The problem is that MC doesn't see those files when it syncs - one way communication..

??
