Build 450 has the fix:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=45402.0

Looks like it's working!  Thanks, all.  Unable to verify at the moment.

Since we're talking about the last.fm plug-in, is there any chance of getting the portable media sync to interface with the last.fm plug-in?  As much as I use MC12, I listen to a lot of music on my media player which never gets sent up to last.fm.  Any chance of this improvement being done in the future?

Looks like it's working!  Thanks, all.

How did you confirm that?

Mine was set to 0.  Which raises the question: Is it supposed to be 1?  And if it's supposed to be 1, why are some of them getting switched?

Did you reset this registry value before installing 12.0.450?

I removed all last.fm registry entries before installing the new build. Unfortunately I can't see any change in the behavior. It runs only when the plugin interface page is in sight.

How did you confirm that?

Before I installed the new version, I pulled the last.fm plug-in out and let it load it up from the new install.  It seemed to work on my system.  Though, I didn't surgically remove the registry entries.

EDIT: Whoops, checking my recycle bin, I think I deleted an older version of last.fm that had been sitting in the plug-ins directory.
Place my confirmation on hold.

I have download b451 (with v1.0.0.9 of the plugin) and it still seems to be writing to the MJ12 section of the registry.   I have fired off an email asking the guys to have a look.

I'm glad somebody was able to check on this.  I couldn't think of a way to verify it's function without ripping my MC registry apart, and I just didn't want to do that.

Could anyone having this issue please check C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\plugins for the file MJ12.XML.

I haven't been able to break this.  But all we do on the initial install of the plugin is have it look for that file.  If it is there it knows it is dealing with MJ12.  If it isn't it knows it is dealing with MC12.  Seemed a pretty simple mechanism.

Using MC12 and I don't have that file, as expected.

I haven't had the problem (reverting to "active when visible" when upgraded or installed) repeat since I altered that registry value a few builds back.

Try the next build when it gets here.

Is there an estimate on when the next build will be released?

BenRad - If you can swing it, leaving the last.fm plugin interface open will ensure songs played in MC are submitted.  I can do it at work, which is the only location I'm having a problem, because I just queue up 100+ tracks and use the FoxyTunes FireFox plugin to navigate between songs, pause, etc. throughout the day.

You can use the split view with two splits and keep the Last.fm interface visible in one of the splits. You can adjust the split size to be very narrow.

The next public build will fix this problem for good (I think).

I and four others are.

make that five.

the split view is working as a temp fix for me too. i downloaded 12.0.451 earlier today, but that didn't cure the "active when visible" problem.

looking forward to the next build with the permanent fix :)
