okay, for some time I couldn't really use my itouch at all because most of my computers are 64bit and Apple neglected to mention the problem until after you buy an iTouch.

I initialized my iTouch on my wife's XP machine, then thought I might get things going with MC12 on my XP 64bit machine, but it doesn't show up at all. Windows explorer shows the ipod as a camera and that is it.

I am using the latest MC12.0.476 and my iTouch is running version #1.1.3 (4A93) Do I need a newer iTouch version or will the combo not work on XP 64bit?

Can you install iTunes on your PC?

I can install iTunes, but it says I should use a 64bit version. My understanding is that there is a 64bit version included in the installer package, but only for Vista.

Anyway, the installer lets me continue, and the installer seems to finish. I rebooted as asked, and then when I ran iTunes, I was told I needed QuickTime, that it had failed to initialize. Of course, I have QuickTime installed and it works fine.

OK.  Now what happens if you run MC?  Can it see the Touch?  It's a long shot, I know.

There is another way to skin this cat, and that is to use your library but sync on your wife's PC.

No, I can't see the iTouch.

using my wife's computer isn't a good option as it is in her office.

Do some people have this same configuration with iTouch and XP 64bit working?

We haven't done any work with the 64-bit version of the iTunes modules - we have a lot of things to work out with the 32-bit version first.
