MC 12.0.504 always crashes when I’m autoimporting (xvid)-videos into my library. I have installed the latest stable build of FFDShow tryouts http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/ to play xvids. I'm running Windows Vista with all updates.

Because posting the log exceeds the max length, you can download it here: http://www.gmx.de/mc/Ra2pdmd3sJ4tuUmVYlO6gZWNFXc0tD Please click on "GMX MediaCenter starten" and then on "Log.txt" to view it.

Windows gave me this problem signature:

It's probably a bad filter, DirectShow related.  Try these links on our wiki:
http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Special:Search?search=xvid

The ffdshow that comes with CCCP is known to work.

I uninstalled ffdshow tryouts, rebooted and installed the latest CCCP, but it didn't help. (I used it before and had also those problems.)

But I got a new problem-signature:

Those file wdrvprg.dll is a part of "Child Control 2008" (version 9.950.0.0) from Salfeld Computer GmbH (http://www.salfeld.com/). A German version is sold under the name "Kindersicherung 2008". Until now it worked perfectly for limiting the computer time of my kid. I will get in contact with Salfeld.

This used to happen to me a lot. Since my system appeared otherwise fine, I figured that MC was not a stable program. I waited a few additional releases for the stability to increase, but it never happened.
In the end, I had to reinstall WIndows XP for some other reason. It never crashed during import again.

Moral of the story for me: MC 12 wasn't to blame, it was something about my system/OS that was problematic.

Finally! :D Tried it about a hundred times, reinstalled Media Center, updated to a new MC-version, used different codec packs like K-Lite, CCCP and others. Now it worked, after I uninstalled Child Control! I hope Salfeld will fix this, because I want to run both. I did some testing and CC was the best of its kind. :-\

Thanks for letting us know that Salfeld Computer GmbH was the issue.

Software that tries to hook everything in the system like that sometimes causes weird and wonderful problems.

Salfeld gave me this workaround next day: Add the executable "Media Center 12.exe" to the exclusions in the advanced settings menu. Works.
