Since my old PC crashed, I reinstalled Media Jukebox which is now version 12 (I don't even remember which version I had, but it was defenitely an older one) and requested a download of my license (only have my E-mail adres, so the code was mailed, and used to request the download).
When I execute the download, it however pops up with
Error restoring MP3 Encoder license
Unknown Error
What am I doing wrong ?
I guess you have a license for Media Jukebox 8 (older MJ versions didn't use the online restore system).
The license is good only for the version 8 and for upgrading to Media Center.
As said, MJ12 is free, but it needs a separate license for MP3 encoding.
You can still use MJ8 with your old license. It is available in this link:
ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/Mediajukebox80400.exeHowever, since you have a new PC I would recommend trying Media Center 12 (aka MC12).
The next version after MJ8 was MC9. MC12 is the latest successor.
MJ12 is a recently introduced free version of MC12. It contains only a subset of the features. It is not a direct successor of MJ8 (there was no MJ9, MJ10 or MJ11).
I any case you may want to install MJ8 and restore your license so that it will be registered on your PC. This makes possible to buy Media Center 12 in a reduced upgrade price.
Before installing MJ8 you should uninstall MJ12 (the registry values are not compatible). After you have restored your MJ8 license you can uninstall MJ8 if you want. The MJ8 license info will not be removed by the MJ8 uninstaller.
