Media Center 12.0.530
« on: August 11, 2008, 11:23:58 am »

This is the latest version of MC 12.0.  Any MC12.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.

This latest build (usually safe) of MC12.0 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/MC12/MediaCenter120530.exe

12.0.530 (8/8/2008)

1. Fixed: Pasting using right-click menu > Edit > Paste would not honor the right-click position.
2. Fixed: Pressing 'Enter' in a list could fire two times, causing possible strange behavior.
3. Fixed: Clicking in a thumbnail view could fail to do range selection properly if the stack icon was the first column in details view.
4. Fixed: If the main JRiver tools library was reused by a program without being completely unloaded it could crash. (could cause shell extension crashes)
5. Fixed: Editing the last renamed / created file could unintentionally change the filename in rare cases.
6. Fixed: Nested keywords that reused the same base-path could confuse Theater View.

12.0.529 (8/1/2008)

1. NEW: Discount price for upgrade from MJ12's MP3 encoder ($29.99).
2. Fixed: Multi-line edit controls could insert extra carriage-return characters.

12.0.528 (7/29/2008)

1. Fixed: Values with quotes in them could cause problems during pane multi-select.
2. Fixed: Trying to decode a JMX file without a JMX input plugin loaded could cause a dead-lock.
3. Fixed: Tagging a CUE file database entry could cause the source file to get renamed.
4. Changed: Upgraded iPod database writing to match iTunes 7.7.
5. Fixed: The last played date of "never played" was not supported properly on the iPod.
6. Changed: Revised number handling so that a numeric field that evaluates to zero will show the field's empty display value.
7. Changed: Retry limit for podcasts increased to 1000.
8. Fixed: Pasting in the image editor when a portion of the paste was outside the image could crash.
9. Fixed: "Play in Media Center" from Explorer could drop files if multiple files were selected with Media Center not running.
10. Fixed: Invalid JPEG files that contained multiple images encoded into one file without proper end markers could cause a crash.

One last try for MC12 :-\

1.  The "Move / Copy Fields..." dialog doesn't honor the custom name of renamed fields.
Take a look here for more detailed Info.

2.  Trying to copy mp3s from a CD to another location using "Rename, Copy, and Move Files" doesn't work but gives the message
"Not all of the selected tracks can be renamed."
So if I have a mp3-CD I first have to copy all mp3 to a writetable Drive and then move (or copy) all files using some rules in "Rename, Copy, and Move Files".

3.  One minor thing: Changing the volume without using MCs slider (eg. by using a remote control or the vista volume control) doesn't update the slider position in MC until MC gets minimized&restored or until the mouse moves near the top part of MCs window.

There seems to be a bug handling mp3 tags where the Artist field has special characters like "Blue Öyster Cult".

- If I view the tag in Media Jukebox the Comment field is always the same as the Artist.

- If I check the same file in iTunes the Comment field is empty.

- If I delete the contents of the Comment field in MJ and then close and restart MJ the "phantom" comments reappear.

- I think the same issue exists with the Album Artist field.

So it seems like that for files with special characters in the Artist field the comment field is incorrectly showing the same special characters.

With the latest build I've encountered some problems with the Last.fm plugin. When MC starts and I am submitting songs I get an error box "Timeout while waiting for the thread to terminate". This same message comes up if I try to edit my Last.fm settings. This is the Last.fm log.

1.  The "Move / Copy Fields..." dialog doesn't honor the custom name of renamed fields.
Take a look here for more detailed Info.

Custom names will be shown in most places, but not everywhere.

Since a move would not be possible, only a copy off read-only media, this would require some new features.  We're done adding features to v12.

3.  One minor thing: Changing the volume without using MCs slider (eg. by using a remote control or the vista volume control) doesn't update the slider position in MC until MC gets minimized&restored or until the mouse moves near the top part of MCs window.

This is only true with the special system Vista volume.  MC 13 will remove this limitation, but it's not a simple change so we don't have plans to move it to MC 12.

Ok, I don't see any logic here, but since development has stoped I understand that there will be no changes any more. It's no big thing by the way because, as you said, "in most places" the custom names are used.

Since a move would not be possible, only a copy off read-only media, this would require some new features.  We're done adding features to v12.
I think this is a bug and should have been fixed. But as we are told only "show stoppers" will be fixed I see why you'll not fix it.

This is only true with the special system Vista volume.  MC 13 will remove this limitation, but it's not a simple change so we don't have plans to move it to MC 12.
Because this is just a minor cosmetic thing, it shouldn't matter much.

Thanks for your reply!!
