You are wrong
I had some posts just deleted-not closed deleted
I had many posts 'edited'
and not only by JimH

This is the rule of a well run place
Have a look at Audiogalaxy forum if you want to know what is a not well run place

Such a place in many no-anglos countrys would be shut down since long

Few posts i was really upset. Not to be deleted, but why-to long to start it now-
But as you know there is a very special general standart here.
Yes JimH is old,as i'am you may say ,but to see a post under the user name 'i hate.....' is just an insult.

Do not feel like an hero here.Someone that many have fun to read, look like yes.

Maybe this post can lead to try again to unban some???

Having a strange name is one thing but bannable ??

My user name is mikeh - Mike (my first name) - H (my surname)

No secrets there

Zevele - what does that mean and why change from Zevele10

What is old ?? I grew up with Punk where it was fashionable to hate everything.

I agree certain threads should be closed if inappropriate - but by a culture that allows the DEAD KENNEDYs to have a number 1 single called Holiday In Cambodia. A name seems tame to me.

I dont spend any time on any other forums so cant compare MJ to any others.

All we need now is another set of rules to follow / or should we just fall to the whims of the latest dictator.

I had holidays in Cambogia

My user name is THE MOST PUNK USER NAME ON THIS FORUM
It means trash\junk.
the same that Erick Debris-Johnny Roten-Polystyren-buzzcoks-the Zeros- if you know punk.

On a general level you do not need to have really rules if you know this place.
I hate anything is a no-go.people here just try to be a little civilised.
There is room for punk,no for skinhead
Concerning Dictator, many people just move to another country when a dictator rules the country they are living in..................

Zev.

So your an old bloke with the most Punk name in Town. Your banned.

Actually you did say it was 2:00am and you were going to bed because you had to be up at 6:00pm.

Thats 16 hours sleep - i thought you needed less when you were old.

Or does that take into account that you have to get up every 20 minutes to change the 180g to the other side.

Goodnight and speak soon.

The Clash were always a POP band. Never really inspired me the same as the pistols

I went to see the pistols a few years ago when they did the tour and they were fantastic.

Mr Lydon is the real PUNK and if he does some new stuff it will BE real.

I cant wait.

If only Bon Scott could be re-born at the same time.

Zev said "you do not understand what is punk"

Someone makes a post with a real Punk Name and you agree it should be banned.

I thought the name was in keeping with the true Punk spirit.

But somehow "I do not understand Punk"

Im really trying to be polite !!

keep cool Raoul!

Pistols not bad but just a bunch of idiots manipulated by Malcon something-this one i hate-
They do not really play on they album, this is not really punk

Lydon was \is not an idiot ,for sure.was more punk with PIL that with Pistols.I mean the Pil at the start

If i found it ,i will post one of his interview, not long ago where he says that he loves the queen, and thinks this is a really important part of England
As you say this is the REAL punk.If he does something new it would be reform pistls for the x times-Or a kind of disco stuff.
He his old ,he his fat

If Clash is pop ,i like pop.In this case pop is the REAL punk .
To take 'i hate everyone " as a user name is not punk today.
Punk was 30 YES THREE ZERO years before
Or you take punk as the american meaning of it.In this case it is punk

Now ,you may like more than Pistols if you like punk.
give me your names,we may have some tips to share

Have a nice...evening-day-night.I do not know where you are

Neither in life nor in death. But it's pretty creepy thinking about it.
I stopped caring about music much when Hendrix died. I stopped paying attention altogether when Duane Allman died. I hated Disco. Punk was a breath of fresh air after that but it wasn't me.
I am experimenting with "new" forms of music, now. New as in Jazz mostly but I have a subscription to EMusic and can try out everything. Still my "home" is late 60's - early 70's rock. Haven't yet found a "new" niche. Maybe that's part of growing old ... you lose your niche. Or maybe your niche just becomes a rut.

You're doing a good job.

Now, "I Hate All People" may be "real Punk" but do you believe it?  Do you want it to be the way we live?

I'm older than zev, 57 1/2 to be kind of exact.  So I came to life literally in the '40's, became conscious (more or less) in the '50's, and then (boom) had to find a job in the '60's.

In the '60's, it was a big deal to let it "all hang out", meaning "let it be", just "let things happen".  We were pretty rude about the mundane things of life, like business and law.

Now I sort of understand that "business and law" make a difference.

But I digress.  What I wanted to say is that our culture drifts from one place to another, and each of us (for better or worse) makes a difference in where it goes.

My stand here is to try to accentuate the positive AND eliminate the negative.

Live free or die, eh Alan?

I haven't heard much lately that can compare to Hendrix or Allman for guitar work (Gilmour of course, but he's ancient too). On the other hand, Bardo Pond does some really cool stuff with guitar. Go see them live before you listen to their stuff if you can. System of a Down is not too bad, and Refused, Tool, Dandy Warhols, and Radiohead all have stuff that is quite good. Beethoven really kicks butt as well. Buena Vista Social Club is a nice change. NIN/Fat Boy Slim will make you like that nasty dance music.

One of my current favorites is a rap cd that was made by the cook at the local pool hall.

Don't fall into a rut, keep listening ...

j (listening to "She Hates Me" by "Puddle of Mud" on the local
radio. It's a terrible song, but I love it.)

I'm with zevele on the you cannot resurrect punk thing........the very nature of the punk beast was that it was only punk 'cos of what it was AT THAT TIME (with all the shock horror inyourface uncouth raw pr and limited musical ability). Of course they were exploited (McLaren I think his name was) but that's unfortunately the nature of the the industry........

Doing greatest hit tours 20|PLS| years after the fact is pretty ho hum stuff.

IMHO, modern rock guitarists are pretty much digital musicians like keyboard players who's sounds are due as much to some effects designer as to their own ingenuity. The Hendrix's, Claptons, Becks and Pages of the golden age of rock had to do far more "manufacturing" to create individual sounds/techniques that merely stomping on the right sequence of buttons on a multi-effect pedal. Hendrix used semi-controlled feedback of the lunatic fringe kind in conjunction with his (perhaps over utilised) wah-wah pedal. Even guys like Al Di Meola and Stanley Clarke were relatively easy to identify.

Most guitarists of the time were limited to the abovementioned pedal, maybe overdrive pedal (what the heck is a flanger) and screwing the life out of the valve (tube) heads of the time (Marshall, Orange, Kustom, Vox, WEM, etc) by either turning them up to 11 or pushing their guitars into the speakers to induce that mindblowing feedback.

How many modern lead guitarists could you correctly identify in a blindfold test? Individual technique/sound seems relatively non-existent these days.

will post a long text on punk and guitaristes
But do not feel like to do it now

Yesterday i brought 60|PLS| cds.ONLY original 60' psy\garage.Compilations of 7".So better to do than to post
Guitarists:
beside what you say ,there is another point. How many lps you had when in your 20's?How many hundred times did you play them?
Now you can download 50 albums over night from Emusic, and just listen to them one time
Sure you do not have the time to learn the sound of the guitar,or bass or drums

Punk

ENGLISH [and to some extend europeen] musical style

'i hate all' 'i hate you' and so on are not punk user names-surname

Punk was first of all about derision, mockery. And most of the time sel-derision,self mockery

Johny Mopped-Rotten-Billy Idol-Buzzccoks-Rat Scabies-Howard Pickup-
T.V.Smith-Laurie Driver and hundred more

There is two aspects to punk.
The first one NOT THE MAIN ONE,is reaction to prog and stadium music
But better to say that was not anymore rock music, easy to play 3 chords songs. Was not anymore small places with rock bands playing.
Punk is only the second wave concerning 'back to rock'
It started with pub rock.As the name says ,rock played in pubs-or small places-
With Doctor Feelgood-Roogalator-Ducks Deluxe-Eddie and the Hot Rods-Count Bishops and 'the fathers of pub rock'Brinsley Schwarz.
Part of Pub-Rock bands being part of the Punk wave as well.

But punk was A SOCIAL THING

At this time UK had very hard times under tatcher,no job,no money a real economic crisis. Some others close europeen countrys had also a far from good situation and got punk bands,in other europeen countrys it was more the 'back to Rock' thing
As i say EUROPEEN countrys not US
In the back of all the general situation was a real worry.Do communist block will stay 'quiet' or try to conquer 'free Europe'
To make short"is a way to put down Yalta agreement without a war?"
At this time was still a general background feeling, but in no time you will have the
"better red than dead or better dead than read?". and the fear of WW 3 again in Europe. And you will get it exprimed in the post-punk bands  like Cure and other bands or in a more symbolic way as Kraftwerk with they Man-Machine album
Sleeve red and black=symbolic colours of facisme, and they looking to est=communist russia

The 'no future' slogan had more meaning that you may think

Now you have a lot of kids out of work, not very well educated-this is England-
They get small money from the State, there is no job,no money, nothing to do.
If some of them have a guitar, bass, they just try to play
Or -like in many many cases-if they stole gear from shops, warehouses, they have something to do.They make a band. They do not play that well,BUT MUCH BETTER THAN THE LEGEND SAYS.And they know how to write catchy 3 minutes songs

No-one is about hate.
Keep in mind that one of the greatest punk  succes in England was the Cortinas[not sure] with a song 'I WANT A JOB'
This was not a joke ,not derision, this was a plain demand.
Punk was as the US 60' psy\garage a 7" music. There is  only few great punk lps
The first Clash-Adverts-Buzzcocks-Ruts-Damned- and some more ,but not that much
There is a lot of catastrophic punk lps
And i do not know of a punk band with more than one good lp

And punk was HUDGE.Why? Because ,as it happens with a book a movie who are not that great, but get great succes because they speak to people at the very time they are out,Punk spoke to millions in a same situation than the lyrics, the bands

There is very few punk who did music after punk, and even less who did something of interest-Roten and PIl is one of them, well the PIL of the beginning i mean

Now the Pistols
They are a product ,a project from MC s==t[this one i hate]
They are the Monkeys of punk

Was a lot of punk 7" before Pistols
Was punk lps before Pistols
They even are not the first

As the Monkeys ,other musicians play on they record
And they play kind of heavy-metal,hard rock average music, not punk

Not to say i do not like they record  -i mean the first lp,not to say i did not enjoy the mess\scandal they did
But Pistols was a product,300% the opposite of what punk is
They music is hardly punk, and they been to much stupid boys to make something on they own.Only Lydon has brains.

This is the end of the story.I know was the 'punk no dead' wave and something people call US punk. But this was second serving.
And ,unlike english punk, you can say that with 'US punk' you got people who really did not know how to play.

Actually it was all about ATTITUDE. and not meant to be analysed by back seat drivers. Why think so hard about it and why it happened.
It did - and it was good.

Who cares who played on the record. I liked it and its influenced my thinking about all sorts even now.

Also Thather came to power in 1979 - Punk was happening during Labour government 3 day week etc. 1975/77

Zev asked "i dont know where you are" - Scotland.

No time to play tonight.

bye.
