Smartlist has no 'Advanced' button
« on: December 03, 2008, 09:04:29 pm »

I'm using Media Jukebox 12.0.49 and overall enjoying it very much. I love the smartlist feature, but my dialogue box does not have the 'Advanced' button that I've seen referenced in the help and on the forums. It has Name, Add New Rule, Add Stock Rule, the dropdown menu wizard, and the Modify Results section, but no Advanced option.
So far I've been able to make do with the basic wizard, but I'd like to have the full usability of the program.

Does anyone know how to get this option?
Thanks,
-Stephen

Glad you're liking Media Jukebox.

As for your question, I'm not certain what the help file references, but there's no advanced button in the smartlist editor in MJ 12, MC 12, or MC 13.

I believe smartlist editor in MJ 12 is the same as that of MC 12.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Ah, I think I just found what I was looking for. So when you want to manually add a rule such as "[Media Type]=[Audio] -[Stack Top]=-1 ~d=a ~dup=[Album],[Artist],[Name],[Rating]", you use the 'Custom' in the dropdown menu.

I never saw that clearly explained and several of the help replies referenced a smartlist advanced button. But this clears it up.
Thanks Matt!

That works.
The "Advanced" button was renamed to Import/Export.
If you hit that button (assuming the editors are the same in MC and MJ 12), it should allow you to enter a search string directly.

MediaJukebox doesn't have the import/export button within the smartlist editor!
Interesting to see, that even one of the developers didn't know  8)

I've never understood why it's called Import/Export, and thanks to that it took me a while to realise what it was.

'Advanced', 'Custom' or 'Edit Text' would make more sense imo.

I'd guess it's called so because it offers the only way to import and/or export a smartlist...
anyway I to think it would be good to rename it, because likely the main usage rather is the editing of rules than the import/export.
