Buy Media Center from the menu not working
« on: February 28, 2009, 08:05:40 am »

(Thread started at the request of Jim, original post: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=48793.msg347038#msg347038)

I want to upgrade to MC13.  I installed MC11 on my new computer and restored its original license.  All was fine.  I installed MC13 and the buy button from within the program doesn't do anything.  I changed back my default browser to IE 7 and that didn't help.

I uninstalled everything and tried again, this time installing MC12 along the way, and restoring its license prior to installing MC13.  I now have fully registered MC11 and MC12.  I still have the same problem with MC13 though, when I chose Buy Media Center from the menu, nothing happens.  I tried with both 13.0.119 and 13.0.129.

I disabled my Vista firewall and my Antivirus (Avast!).  That didn't do anything either.

Thank you for your help.

It could be Vista's UAC preventing the purchase.

Can you get to the Restore Page?
https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi

When you click on Buy, is there a window behind the player?

When I click on the Buy MC in the menu nothing at all happens.  There is no window opening somewhere in the background.

I can reach the page you refer to in my browser when I enter the link.

All of the above happens whether Vista's UAC is deactivated or activated.

Thanks for your suggestions.

If nothing is happening, it's almost certain to be a Windows problem.

It's acting like a firewall problem.

I restored my other licenses earlier through the menu function, without changing any particular settings.

I disabled my Vista firewall through the control panel earlier. Is there any other firewall-related setting I should be aware of?

Pop up blocker?

You don't need to disable the Windows firewall.  Allow MC13 as an exception.

Well, I couldn't buy MC13 from my computer, but I could do it from another one.  Installing the key from the file was very easy afterwards.  I wish I would have found the solution, but at least I could buy MC13.

Thank you Jim for the troubleshooting.

Greetings!
