Avi and Mpeg files look yellow / Green + DVDs do not play
« on: March 24, 2009, 08:02:19 am »

Hi all,

I recently installed MC13 + latest FFDshow pack on a HTP computer.
I tried to run few video files but Avi and Mpeg files look yellow / Green,
and also  DVDs do not play.
PS: all Video + DVD play great in Window Player classic (same PC).

My simplistic thinking is that something is wrong with my codecs / setup .

Any idea?
If I use CCCP instead will it work?
Will un-install FFDshow cause any damage to MC13 installation?

Thnx.
Ilan. :o

Uninstalling ffdshow will not affect MC.  CCCP usually works.  Our wiki (link above) has details on DirectShow.

It is a good idea to uninstall stand-alone installation of FFDShow, and install CCCP.  CCCP includes FFDShow and other good filters.

Thnx.

I removed FFDshow, then installed CCCP. All default settings.
DVD = perfect
Sound = perfect
Pictures = great

Still: I coud not get rid of the heavy yellow / green view of the MPG video files.
These MPG came for many sources, one is a new Sony digital video camera.
PS: ALL the these video files are perfect when using the Window media classic player that came with the CCCP installation.

Need your advice.

Thnx

Tools -> Options -> File Types

In Video section, select mpg, and set Playback Method to "JRiver video engine (using DirectShow)", and choose/experiment with different video decoders and different video renderers.
