Annoying Start view
« on: June 11, 2009, 05:50:08 am »

still
no configurable keyboard hotkeys
no way to disable annoying Start view for new tabs
etc.

I've bought MC12, then MC13 but never used it. I'm not going to buy MC14

Start View can be disabled in MC14 as well right? That would prevent it from appearing in new tabs...

No, it doesn't! It even didn't in MC13.

+1 for configurable view for new tabs!

You're right. It doesn't even help removing the Start item from the Tree :(
Why isn't the view copied from the other tab? Wouldn't that be more right?

I had MC 11, 12, 13 and now 14 .
I love it (13 needed time to got used to it)
I love already 14. (registered user)
Love how you can select your music you want to hear.
Love that you can do scripting.
So please guys don't let you stop.
My wish list: Remove duplicates (some artist have the same song on different discs, more )
Thanks

It's not that simple (I guess).
The same has been requested with the implementation of a relational database for MC (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=52167.0), but I doubt if this is possible. I mean that all of us, have duplicate songs from various CDs. Me personaly, I rip to flac with the compression set to -6. What if the same song by the same artist, is downloaded with a different compression ratio? It will be a totally different file (size, date and album). Wich way, the db engine will be able to determine if it's the same file or not?
Just considering...

Further to this, (and this is becoming a thread hi-jack), is the question of slightly different versions of the same song, which may appear with all the same metadata (apart from Album). It's not uncommon in my experience for slightly different edits to appear on different albums, but they do not have any edit-identifying tag (most do, but not all). This becomes dangerous.

Genres in which this is extremely dangeous is Classical and Opera. It is possible, and relatively common, for artists to perform the same piece a number of times, even with the same Conductor/Orchestra/Accompanist. It would be very very dangerous to eliminate duplicates in this way.

No, but as mentioned in open new tabs in something other than "start", middle clicking on an item in the tree will open it in a new tab. "Do not pass Start Page, go directly to new location"... works well for me, but not quite there for Crescent as yet....

OK it works, but to have new audio view You have to scroll tree, middle click is a bit difficult with touchpad. I'm using MC to arrange music on live events sometimes creating playlist on the fly so chance for errors should be small.

Yes it is possible, but using this method I can't remap Space to Play/Pause and still use it in edit boxes

try:
Code: [Select]
<Entry Key="Space" Command="10000" Param="0" TranslateFlags="1" />
the translateflag = 1 means that
Quote
1: don't translate in edits, comboboxes, and other data entry controls
and it works for me.
when you dont get it working please be specific where you get stuck.
