No sound after ripping a DVD
« on: June 17, 2009, 05:22:16 pm »

I've been using MC for a while now for music only and decided it was time to check out the movie potential having always used VLC in the past.

I've imported a movie into media center no problem, but when I go to play it no sound is coming out - is there something else I need to change to get a movie to play?  I've looked at the options, changed the audio device but no matter what I appear to select I get silence...  :-X

The exact same files play fine in VLC and Win MP

Bad DirectShow filters.  Take a look at the DirectShow guide in our wiki (link above).  Try installing CCCP.   Uncheck Taskbar options for FFDshow and Haali.
