Mysterious shutdown or crash
« on: June 26, 2009, 02:08:05 pm »

This has been happening on a vista 32 machine with ms visual studio 6 and 2008 installed (and sometimes running).  Both MC 13 and 14 mysteriously disappear.  Haven't been able to figure out what other app might be the source of the problem, but when I restart I get this message: Media Center 14 is running but there may be a problem.  Possible causes:
1. program also running under different user account
2. MC 14 and Media Server are both in Windows Startup
3. The program is not responding for an unknown reason.

Also I get Incomplete Detected

Media Center has detected that it did not shutdown correctly after it was last run.

It is recommended that you allow Media Center to reset some settings in an effort to prevent the
problem from happening again.

Actions to take:
Use default window size, position, skin, and startup view
Disable 3rd party plug-ins
Use default library

I am stumped about why this occurs (average 3-5 times a day).

Uninstall, reboot, and reinstall latest builds of each.

Run one or the other, but not both.  Just to try to isolate the problem.

If that doesn't fix it...

Turn on logging in MC Help and look for problems in the logs.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's related to the mini view I was using - Caliper (with a p, there's also a Caliber).  I'm going to run with the standard Slim even though it's a bit big, and see how things go.
