WindowsMobile Issues - Recognition & Supported Filetypes
« on: September 09, 2009, 01:40:55 pm »

Hi Media Center Team!

I have following problem when synchronizing my Handheld:

System:
- Windows Mobile Phone (samsung omnia)
- Windows Mobile Device Center running on VISTA
- Media Center 14 (newest build)

Problem 1:
- When Media Center is running and my phone is connected and I disconnected the phone and reconnect it, MC doesn't recognize the phone anymore.
- I have to close MC completely and reopen it. After doing so the phone is recognized again.
- The refresh button in MC doesn't help.

Problem 2:
- I have several files in several folders on my phone.
- I want that MC only synchronizes the music files (mp3) in the folder "Music"
- I went to the synchronizing options in MC and set the supported files to MP3 only.
- I also made sure that all folders for data, video, etc are set to locations that don't exist (e.g. Images/). Only the music folder is correct.
- However, MC still shows me the jpg files on my phone that are in folders that are not supposed to be synced by MC.

Can you help me with those two problems? I would really appreciate it. As far as I know this problem already existed in MC13.

Thanks a lot...

Does Windows see it in Explorer?

Does Windows see it in Explorer?

Yes Sir. Windows sees it in the explorer as Mobile Device (not as drive in the normal folder tree). But I can access it in the Windows Explorer as Mobile Device.

I have the same problem with my system, along with an even more annoying problem.
System:
Windows 7 Ultimate. 64 bit
MC 14.0.151
quad core Athlon, 6 GB ram
WMDC-64
HTC Touch Pro 2, WM 6.5

Issues;
Same as above- the phone device is only discovered ONCE by MC14. If I unplug it, I msu restart MC or it will never be found, even though WMDC and Win7 can each find it.
Another annoying problem- I cannot get MC to write the files to the "Storage Card" path. It will only put songs into main memory. Tghis is totally bad, as I only have 85megs of main memory left, but 7 gigs or space on the storage card. It looks like MC cannot deal with the "Storage Card" symbolic link correctly.

I have a WinMo 6.5 HTC Touch on Win7 and while I've had some issues trying to use Active Sync over the years - I've have NO problems when selecting "Disc Drive" as the connection type when plugging the phone in.  My SD Card just appears in MC and away I go with no Active Sync in the way

It needs to be seen as a drive in Explorer.
