How to turn off auto-import on 14.0.69?
« on: September 18, 2009, 09:46:57 am »

What is with auto-import?, no matter what I do, I can't turn it off, sometimes it even tries to auto-import when I am in the middle of doing something else. Long time user here but this feature has completely ruined my experience with MC14. I turn it off in options and auto import still runs, I cancel it and like 40 seconds later it starts to auto import again.

If anyone could help me turn auto-import off completely I would appreciate it.

Thanx
TC

I'm not aware of any problem.  You aren't using Library Server, are you?  Just one instance?

Check the setting in Library and Folders/Options/Run auto-import....

It appears that if there is no media in the library it is trying to import media no matter if auto import is turned on or off, once I imported something in manually then the auto import problem stopped. If that's it default nature then I would change it , it's confusing as all heck, lol.

thanx

Why would you want a media library with nothing in it?
Are you just using it to connect to a library server?

That's what I do with my Media PC, just connect to Library Server that is  ;D I usually import one song to the default local library to keep MC from bugging me  ;)

@tcman41,

I'm having the same problem.  But I'm afraid I don't understand your solution.  How do you do what you did to make it stop?

Thanks in advance,

Kathy
P.S.  Anyone else who knows how to do it is invited to answer, doesn't have to be tc.

Regardless of your Auto-Import settings, if the library you are using has no media in it MC will insist on importing something to the empty library and pop-up the import dialog. If you humor it and import at least one song, it will no longer insist on importing anything and no longer bring up the import dialog...

Also having problems importing existing database/library on J:......set J: in Library Manager but it starts importing images on drive F:....and does not get to J:.
Puzzling...bummer!

Sorry.....just finding my round this new thingy...fixed under Tools/Import/media options or something.
Seems to be more than one pointer on how to import from library?
Hopefully it will stay fixed.
thanks again.

I'm finally getting round to upgrading to 14. (84)
Is this something that is going to be changed.
I use MC for music only which resides on a central PC and I use library server.
Bad enough that it tries to import but despite telling it during the install that it should only handle audio type files it tries to import any supported media.
Clearing the library only triggers a new import.

Should it not maybe ask if you want it to search your harddrive for media during the install process and then rely on your option settings afterwards

Thanks
