Ads On Interact
« on: September 22, 2009, 05:22:35 pm »

Just noticed that there are now a couple of ads on Interact (a Newegg one and an Amazon MP3 Store one, right now).  Nothing too obnoxious, and I won't be removing Interact from my Adblock Plus whitelist, but I just wanted to mention it to make sure this isn't something weird that only I'm seeing...

If it makes you guys a few extra bucks, I'm all for it.

Heck, I think I'll scroll on down and click on that Newegg ad in a second here.  I was gonna head over there to check the Tracking on an order coming this week anyhow...

I'll be honest.  I disagree.  The moment I saw them I realized oh yea, this has been ad free for a while.

It seems that the few people who visit Interact frequently should be given an ad-free experience.  Consider iPhone apps that you buy primarily to remove the ads.  I'm always prefer ad-free environments.

I turned off my ad blocker to see what you're talking about. It was blocking an ugly newegg ad... and that annoying graphic in your signature. ;D

I got no problems with it, as it is not currently distracting (visually) in any way.  If it becomes more prominent, then that might suck, just a little...

I don't have a problem with it either. It's just the annoying animated graphics I really can't tolerate. I just thought it funny I blocked someone who probably hates ads as much as I do. So I've decided on a compromise. The lightning picture can stay, but the signature thing sucks just a little and will stay blocked. ;)

Don't have a big problem with this my self. Only small problem I have is the Media Center Remote picture that is way to high :) It takes up a lot of space on the forum. Why not take a picture with the parts lined up, making is wider instead? Just a suggestion.

+1
Please cut the height to 1/3. Arrange the items horizontally - will make a nice banner...

+1 on the widening of the MC Remote

and while you are at it, make it brighter (i.e. adjust the exposure):
IMHO the Media Center Remote ad photo is underexposed

+1 on the widening of the MC Remote. Hope you make lots of sales though!

I also had to to turn off my adblocker to see the other ones. And thanks for reminding me I can block certain images. ;-)

I agree with benn600.

I think ads are fine as long as they are not in your face (e.g. animated, pop up ads, ...).

I never took any notice of it, until it was mentioned, can't say that i object to a few adds, like someelse said, if it makes you guys a few dollars.
