Some Observations
« on: October 26, 2009, 10:50:20 am »

I have a few observations/comments that didn't seem to fit anywhere so I figured I'd griup them in a new thread. Running build 88

1) The scroll bars in Theater View don't indicate the true position in the list. Scrolling from top to bottom of the scroll bar only scrolls through a few rows when there are many more.

2) I like the glass skin and understand that it is very early in the feature. All track info template are also displaying in a glass style. Will they become opaque in future versions? They don't really work in glass.

3) I really like the performer store. The other day when I realized that I didn't have a few tracks that I was looking for I went to the store to find them. It was then that I realized that I can't add tracks from the store if I am on a client machine. Since my main server is hidden away and I use primarily client tablets that are placed around the house this makes the store ineffective. If I do try to playback a track from the performer store the client shows no error but the server gets an error that th etrack cannot be located in the databse. Will this ever work client/server? If not can the user be prevented from crashing the server?

On the client, are you playing store files imported into the server library or are you navigating to the store itself in the tree and playing there?

Thanks.

On the client I was attempting to play directly from the store. Because my server is not accessible th eclient is the only real easy access. I had hoped to browse the store and playback a track on the server similar to what would happen in my media library. Now that you mention it, I didn't try to actually choose download an dthen play the track. I'll have to test that later. I'm not sure whether or not a download fom the client will even download the track on the server or not. I also wonder if it does download to the server library if it will even be available to the client or whether or not i would need to refresh the library.

That's also a good feature suggestion. Since the server is configured for auto-import, new media is added to the library at any time. That media is not available at the client unless the library is refreshed (restart MC or re-load the library.) It would be great if there was an auto refresh as there is an auto import.

I tested a download from a client and it downloads to the client's library.
