Media server & pocket pc
« on: March 14, 2003, 11:51:26 pm »

I just installed MJ8.0 and wanted to play via Mediacenter to my pocketpc over 802.11.

As soon as I enered on my pocket pc mediaplayer the Url
"http:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:pp"
(in which of course xxx and pp are the actual numbers)
the mediaserver crashed ????

Any other ways to get this done? ?

It sounds like your using MC's Media Server and then are using MJ8 as a client. You can't mix versions like that currently. They both have to be either MJ v8 or MC v9.

Instead of http:// you could use m01p://  (m-zero...)

But I don't think you are running MJ on the PPC, are you?

Is there any way to connect to media server using a PocketPC?

This would be great, as the PPC is portable and with so many Hotpsots out there, I can stream my mp3's anywhere I go.

I read that you can hit the media server with a browser, but that doesn't seem to work on my PPC or a PC.  Any apps out there?

No.  You would need Media Jukebox or Media Center to run on the PPC.  Neither do.  It would be nice...

I am new to MJ but read somewhere that you can connect via a browser if you point ot the address.  I tried this but it said "You are not using a standard Music01 protocol to access this server"

Did this work at one point but was discontinued?  The ability to get to my music from any browser is extrememly appealing.  If the site was simple enough (like the webremote page) then the PocketPC would be able to read it.

Any plans to do this (again)?
