How do I get MC to recognize new cover art for audio albums?
« on: December 29, 2009, 12:46:07 pm »

So I'm new to MC.  Had it import my large FLAC file collection - all is working well except that unlike Squeezecenter, 'cover.jpg' isn't recognized and so a lot of my album artwork isn't showing up.

After realizing there was no option but to rename all my files to "folder.jpg", I did this.

I had MC run Auto-update and after an hour it was done (most of that time it was processing cover art), however the artwork still isn't showing up.

Do I have to delete the entire library and re-import?

Thanks in advance...

Welcome to the forum.

Here's how cover art works (from our wiki):

Thanks, Jim.

Unfortunately I had already read that - it doesn't address my problem.

Imagine you had just two albums in your library.  Both are in separate folders, but only ONE of them has a "folder.jpg" file.

You import the music and you can see all the songs from both albums, but of course only one has cover art.

So you add the missing artwork, carefully naming it  "folder.jpg" file and placing it in the correct folder.

Now what? MC doesn't 'catch on' that you have artwork.

Things I've tried:

1) Quick find in file/cover art directory

This produces a new option at the top of the Cover Art menu titled 'View (first file)' which WILL display the artwork in a separate window if I select it, but it does not produce the library image.

2) Cover Art -> Rebuild Thumbnail (this has no effect as far as I can tell)

I've also tried Remving the artwork and doing the above two steps to no avail.

What am I missing?
