Under Library Tools it is possible to modify virtually all database fields using the "Find & Replace" command. However, this is not available for the coverart field. I am moving all my coverart to a server-disk and want to change the drive-letter for the coverart bei using "find & Replace".  Doing it one-by-one for each file and pointing it to the new coverlocation is a bit cumbersome.

Any ideas?

If you're storing all your cover art in a single directory, you can change the location in MC Options, and then right click on tracks and do a "Quick find".

Tried that first, and it found a few "lost" covers. But hundreds remained unfound; no idea why.

By looking at the Image File field I could see the tracks had the correct file name, but in an old, non-existent cover art folder location. I could have fixed them all immediately by changing the folder portion of the Image File path, if File & Replace could act on this database field.

Instead, I manually reconnected the "lost" images to the tracks by selecting each album, then locating its image the cover art folder. I got through most of them, so my immediate problem is fixed, the hard way.

But "for next time", it seems desirable to be able to edit the Image File field just as any others. Is there a reason why it is "off limits"?

(I suppose Plan C could be to rename the "lost" cover art images so "Quick find" would find them. Is it locked into searching for the same file name pattern specified for naming new covert art?)

If you want to move your cover art directory, just change it in the options for File Locations.

Then select files, right click and do "Quick find".  Try a few before you do very many.

thanks for the quick response.  The reason why I posted this was because the same problem is occurring with "Quick Find" as quoted

For Quick Find to work, the names must match.  Try the wiki (link above) on Cover Art.

just double and triple checked, and recopied all the cover art, 1:1. 

for example:

old directory:

Please try a local drive test.  Some network drives may have trouble with "special" characters.

[old] directory:
C:\users\media\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 13\Cover Art\

[test only] local directory:
C:\users\media\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 13\Cover Art9\

[Network] Directory:
Y:\Databases\Cover Art

Following is the test I conducted to see if it's a network path character limitation issue:
1.) renamed "Cover Art" in [old] directory to "Cover Art 9"
2.) changed the Thumbnail Directory setting to reflect 1.)
3.) Used Quick Find
Results: Fail
4.) Used Cover Art --> View
Results: Fail
5.) Renamed "Cover Art9" in [old] directory back to "Cover Art"
6.) Used Cover Art --> View
Results: Pass (this proves file name exists)
7.) Changed the Thumbnail Directory setting to reflect 5.)
8.) Used Quick Find
Results: Fail

For some reason even the [test only] local directory fails to work with "Quick Find".

The results of Step 7 and 8 shows this is more than just a path problem.  Even when Cover Art --> View works perfectly, but the Thumbnail doesn't show in the Media Center.

The whole story in case it helps is this:
1.) Backed up the library in computer(1) (with MC13)
2.) Manually Duplicated all settings from Computer(1) to Computer(2)
3.) Restored the library in Computer(2) (with MC14)
4.) copied the thumbnail directory to central share (Y:\databases\cover art)
5.) Changed Thumbnail directory in Computer(2) to "Y:\data........"

Results were, some Quick Finds worked, others not so much....

Jacky, shoddy is spelled with a pair of "d's", not "t's".

I just tested this feature in 14.0.118.  It works as expected. 

Please set up a simple test of a local music file and a local cover art directory.   Simple names, etc.  Your Y: directory is probably a network drive and it introduces new possibilities for errors.

When you say "thumbnail directory" above, I assume you mean a valid cover art directory, not thumbnails.

This feature works.

What do you have set here?

C:\users\media\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 13\Cover Art\
or
C:\users\media\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 13\Cover Art9\

Find a music file.  Right click on it.  Do the Quick Find.

If it doesn't show up as cover art, check the names.  They must match.
