Hi all,

during playback I get some noise, not like white noise but more something like crackling, ticks and tacks ... (they silent but hearable)

The funny thing: this appears after playing some few songs (or maybe some 5 minutes), clicking on pause and then play again the noise is still there. When I click on stop and then play again the noise went away for another 5 or 10 minutes.

I played the same file in parallel with QuickTime player - I do have the same effect.

I installed newest Realtek HD Audio, disabled HW accelaration, changed output modes (DirectSound, WAV).

I killed all processes. I removed all USB devices ... nothing happens.

The computer I playback now is new, so on my old one this didn't happen. It must be something in a driver that "accumulates" (cause of the 5 minutes effect) but I'm lost of ideas ...

So any advise is welcome what to install remove etc ....

Did you get a new driver directly from Realtek?  I think there is a problem with a driver available from Microsoft.

Directly from the Realtek homepage ...
Do you know is this the only driver that handles sound or is there anything else I could replace?
The old Realtek driver was aprox. 1 year old and had the same effect ... so do you think its worth trying other old versions?

In Windows Audio Codecs Properties I see the following codecs installed:

Can someone help which codec I should try to replace? How do I know what codec MC uses?

I configured all this codecs to "do not use" ... but still audio is playing??

Ok ... Realtek posted a new driver from 2010/01/22 ... three days old ... trying this one ... by the way installing newest directx ... lets hope ...

Do you have an Toshiba NB A-Series? Try this Soundproblem Satellite A-Series and everything is fine

Hi!

USB-connector near the headphones connector by any chance?
I've had a similar issue when listening to music and my iPhone (or any other USB-device) is connected via USB to the computer and the headphones connector is near the USB-connector. Removing the USB-device also removed the noises.
