USB digital output
« on: February 24, 2010, 01:56:21 pm »

I just downloaded my trial version of this MP.   The sound comes out of my sound card and I hear the music from my computer speakers.  However- I want it to be sent out from my usb ports to an external DAC.  What is the setting to accomplish this?

Thanks to all.

If you have the latest, look at Options > Audio

Pick WASAPI or ASIO for a high-quality connection.

Then 'Output mode settings...' and select the desired soundcard.

These settings are zone specific.  You can have any number of zones and switch between then to allow controlling multiple devices at once.

Thanks.   I do not understand what a zone is.  I just want to get the playback to go through my USB ports.  Which Zone do I choose for that?

You don't need to set a zone.  Just make sure you have the latest build from the download page.  The follow Matt's instructions.

Well   I picked ASIO,   I picked ASIO4all under soundcard- and the music is commong out- of my computer- but nothing out of the USB ports.  I tried direct sound and wav output as well.   Same thing-  nice sound  but I need it to go out of thr UDB not out of the speskers on my PC.

I selected a sound card as well-  no USB output.  Do I need to change the number in "channel offset" from zero to two or four?

This will show you every thing you need to know even if you aren't using Win 7.

Good listening, Russ

What card would that be?
I never played with USB sound but I guess for USB sound to function you need to have a USB device (sound card, DAC, etc) and some _drivers_ to support this device. After the drivers are installed, your device will show up as a sound card (or whatever) supporting USB.
If MC gives you only your motherboard sound card as an option then there will be no USB output.
Am I wrong?

I am using Media jukebox and am not getting sound out of usb.  I have windows 7, it recognizes my Dac.  I chose ASIO but in the modes sedction it says no asio device detected.  I can play sounds thru windows.

Try Direct Sound or Wave Out in Playback options.

On Win7, also try WASAPI.

There is no option for WASAPI, I'll try the others.

OK Direct Sound works but it keeps losing the signal every few seconds, connecting to a NAS on my network.
