Since I purchased a license to MC14 on 01/20, do I have to buy it all over again to get to 15 ?

You can upgrade for $17.98 now.  Next week it will be $24.98.  You could wait until later in the cycle.

The cutoff was March 22.

I see.  so unlike many software vendor, a purchase of MC does not guarantee you an upgrade for any given time (like 90 days or 120 days, etc). 

I have been out and I just got an email tonight that says I could have upgraded for $15 yesterday.  I just plain have not had the chance nor did I know about it.  How long does the $17 price last? through midnight tonight

I feel a license should apply for a "period" like 1 year for example.  all new versions and upgrades within that time period should be covered.  After the 1 year mark, you will have to pay full price to upgrade or pay an annual incremental license to keep "current".

Like for example, if I could pay $15 a year and just always have the right to move to the new version (as long as I have paid up).

Those are my thoughts! I was only demonstrating, however, it would be no more "fair" than the current model, and I don't believe many would choose it even if it were an option. Pay the $18. You'll feel a tiny bit less guilty than the rest of us do for upgrading at the ridiculously low price of $15.
