I downloaded the free trial of MC14. I love everything about it except I can't get it to record. I'm trying to record my analog music collection. and I get an error message. I know everything is hooked up right because I've used other programs to record (none of them we're to my liking). Hope someone can help with this. The message I am getting is as follows:

Failed opening wavein system
A divice ID has been used that is out of range for your system.
Check for these possible problems:
1. Missing or incorrectly configured sound card
2. Sound card doesn't handle 16 bit 44100Hz stereo recording
3. Another application is currently using sound cards recording function
4. This sound card is not full duplex and is currently being used for playback

I have a Realtek sound card and it is set at 16 bit 44100Hz. As I said I've recorded on other programs before so I know all my connections are right. Hope someone can help.

No that's not it I have my turntable connected to my stereo and the output going to input on my computer. So I don't think that's it as it worked on another program like this. Any other Ideas..I hope so cause I really like everything else about this.

It will work.  Make sure another program isn't being over-eager.

I don't have another program installed that records. The one I was using I removed.

On the 'Record' dialog, click 'Options' and double-check the settings for 'Recorder'.

Make sure they're using the device and line that's working in other applications.

Thanks, and let us know what you find.

did you check the settings under the options button of the sound recorder? at the left choose recorder and look there.
also when choosing encoder at the left, what are the settings when you choose sound recording as the 'encoding for'.
and just to be sure. you are not playing back something at the same time?

 :)

Ok the encoder is set on Windows Media The encoder setting is set on CBR 128 and I'm using Line In on the Recording Device and Line in on Recording Source. Nothing is being played back while I am trying to record.
