Greetings,
     As stated above, 5th Gen classic 160gb sitting pretty and running fine, sync'd with MC14, now moving to 15...
Issues are that when I connect to the car stereo on the new iPod cable, I am supposed to see the Pioneer logo pop up on the 5th Gen, then have complete control from the head unit. Works perfect with the gf's nano - synced with iTunes, and my friends 160gb 5th Gen also on iTunes. Only difference is MC14/15.

I fear, that though I've been a huge fan and recently upgraded, I will have no choice but to use iTunes for these features. 

Do you have any suggestions?

I can't see why MC would change that.

You might try syncing with iTunes to see if it works.  Then sync again with MC.  iTunes will update the firmware.
