Author Topic: How do I get Kernel Streaming to work on a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium  (Read 3741 times)

I change the audio output mode to Kernel Streaming and no matter what settings I enter in DSP Studio, I get the error: "Playback could not be started on the output 'Kernel Streaming' using the format 'xx Hz, yy bits per sample, z channels'. This output may not be supported by your hardware. You can use DSP Studio to change the output to a compatible format. Also, make sure that your system has a valid sound playback device and it is properly configured in playback options."

Any suggestions? I am running 64 bit Windows 7 with the latest sound card drivers from Creative.

  • Where did I put my teeth?

Do you have the latest build from the top of this board?

We're working on some problems in this area.

  • Shoes gone again!

With an X-Fi, ASIO is the best output.  It is the only bit-perfect output method with these cards, as others (WASAPI, KS) will still resample.

You'll also want to make sure the card is in 'Audio Creation' mode.

Finally, configure Media Center to also use ASIO for video, HDTV, etc. so you get bit-perfect output for video as well.
