Can MJ8 do this?
« on: June 26, 2002, 08:23:48 am »

I want to have one cpu playing MJ8, and through my network, have it playing (or broadcasting) the same thing on another cpu.

MORE DETAIL: My setup has one cpu feeding an audio system upstairs, and I want to have it also feed another cpu downstairs, which is subsequently feeding another audio system. For certain technical (and distance) reasons, I cannot just chain the audio systems together, so i would like to have the cpu's in tandem with the network stream or broadcast harmoniously with software. Can MJ8 do that?

You can play and stream at the same time, but the stream can not be syncronized with the song playing. So essentially you can have different songs coming from a single library playing upstairs and downstairs

Darn! That would have made my day! Any plans for this? You did use the word "yet".

Claudio, thanks, but yea, obviously I can access the same files thru the network, but I want them in sync...trying to build the most complete party house system, and this is really my last hurdle...

Thanks...

I do this over 35 metres using two amps.(that's about 115 feet, for you american types)
The tape "out" on one amp goes to the tape "in" on the other and vice-versa.
One of the amps then has an external switch to split the signal to another set of powered speakers in the back yard, which is a further 10 metre run.
Had to use premium cable to prevent transmission loss over that distance, but it sounds fine.
Do your "technical reasons" preclude this type of setup maxx?
I don't think any audio app alone is going to achieve the type of synchronicity that you require.

Hi Maxx,

Claudio, thanks, but yea, obviously I can access the same files thru the network

I was pointing you in the direction of the Media Server where you stream from the same library and have access to the all the playlists in case you where not aware of it

But unfortunately no in sync play yet

For in sync play, I use an FM transmitter. I bought a good powerful strereo transmitter, 50 mW from Hobbytron, that has a range of 500 feet , knowing that in real life the range is always shorter than the spec, and it works great in my whole house ( 3 floors |PLS| basement, backyard and even a few houses down the street
