How to copy tag info in stacks
« on: May 15, 2010, 06:56:07 am »

I'm trying to transfer tag info from tracks where i have both a lossless and lossy version. I can get them to stack ok but can't find a way to duplicate existing tag info. For example, where i had previously rated a track, the rating does not copy over to the new version. Same with existing play count etc.

If I make a change to the rating it copies over to the new file, but i don't want to change ratings, just copy them over.

Can't i do this using stacks?

Hi,

Yes you can use stacks to copy tags from one track to another. Well at least that's what I did using MC-12, but I guess the trick should be valid for 14 and 15.

Here is the old thread in the MC-12 forum:  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=46087.0

In the hope it will help,

Best,

Christian

Thanks Christian. That worked great. Am I right in understanding that you can't transfer play counts from the tagged file to the new file ? Everything else seemed to transfer over fine.

You're welcome.

You are right about "number plays" since the field does not appear in the clean file property dialog and is not editable. It might by possible to do it by exporting all tracks in an mpl playlist, edit "Number Plays" in a text editor and re-import the mpl playlist. But, well, this is a bit cumbersome and involves a lot of manual edits.

Have a nice Sunday,

Christian
