Crashes since build 39
« on: June 10, 2010, 08:13:06 pm »

Build 15.0.56 crashing randomly. I'm doing nothing differently, just listening and tagging. No other changes except to update to .56. This has happened 3 times in past  hour.

I have the Previous Log that shows "Unhandled exception - program crashing" at end. It's fairly large. Should I paste all or some of it here, or e-mail to you?

Try rebooting.  Try reinstalling.  I don't think there is a general problem with 56.

I don't think there is a general problem with 56.

not maybe with .56, but i have had crashes every version after .39 by just changing views or similair.
i'm now testing to see if the filter in the views have something to do with it..i have keywords as filter (only) and there have been changes for delimited fields..i running out of clues except from this..i will let you know if i have can see any improvements.

.39 and earlier is stable as a rock

Perhaps we need to start a new thread for this, but just wanted to pass on that I get random crashes with .46. Will try to get more info on what's happening at the time.

What OS are you using?

Any third party plug-ins etc?

During playback?  Audio, video, etc?

i'm running the exact same config as i have done for a long time and that is with XP

i can't see any pattern, audio on off doe's not matter..i often can see when it's going to crash, mc sort of times out..and then it dies...but it can also be a "quick death"..i have disable my plugins no difference

there was a fix in .46 for crashes, i have the feeleing it got a little bit better, before that the crashed were more frequent..

the only thing i know is that running 39 does not crash. MC has not crashed for me since the backarrow issue in MC 14

i have disabled the plugins (hide) and i have no new filters that i can think about..i use the same db and settings when swithing between .39 and +40..i've been running .39 alot latley to try to stress it.. like play music, stop music, switch language, swith view back and forward, going into options etc...pushing other apps to high CPU at the same time as doing this to see if MC crashes..but i can't crash .39

Thanks for the logs.

We think this will be fixed in build 58:
Fixed: In rare cases, a core string function could read one character too far and cause a crash.

A core piece of our string engine was rewritten in v15 to help performance but there was a corner-case where it could read too far and cause a crash.  Build 58 should have the good performance without the crash.

Sorry for the trouble.
